MGM Sends 10 Local Technology team members to Hollywood
Best in Class Entertainment Technology Training Program Prepares Local Team to Operate Advanced Resort Entertainment Technology at MGM COTAI

[April 18, 2017, Macau] In preparation for the opening of MGM COTAI, MGM recently sent a group of 10 local team members from its Digital & Technology department to Hollywood, California for an intensive two-week training program. The dream come true program was an opportunity for the MGM team to familiarize themselves with the entertainment technology they will operate at MGM COTAI.

MGM COTAI, will showcase some of the most innovative and advanced forms of resort entertainment technology in Asia.  In preparation for handling this state of the art equipment, MGM selected a team based on their dedication, skill, and leadership potential, to travel to Hollywood and learn from the leading experts in entertainment.  The training in Hollywood provided local team members the opportunity to be trained by some of the top designers, engineers, and programmers in the Technology industry based in the United States, and to develop skills focusing specifically on the diverse and fast-changing aspects in the field of Resort Entertainment Technology. With the skills they are bringing back to Macau, this team will be fully capable of the avant-garde technical system operations at MGM COTAI, ensuring the smooth operation of the Spectacle and the Theater, both heavily equipped with high-tech applications and digital sensory art display, while transferring their newly acquired skills with fellow Technology team members in Macau.

Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “Investing in the development of local talent will help not only to realize their full potential, but also greatly contribute to providing creative and diversified entertainment experiences for our guests, which ultimately helps to strengthen Macau’s position as a world leisure and tourism center. MGM will have a team of 11,000 team members on board as MGM COTAI opens, and we will continue to support the career and personal growth of our staff, as it is one of the key factors to help amplify Macau’s appeal and unique offerings to the world.”

"It was an eye opening experience. I have never received any training like that before," said Kay Kuok, Resort Technology Manager. "The manufacturers showed us the equipment used for such famous events as the Super Bowl, UEFA, Tree of Life Milan Expo...  It has been a privilege to be part of the Resort Technology Team, and this training has been a tremendous professional opportunity for us. I’m confident this will help us bring out what makes MGM COTAI unique with the advanced technology involved and I’m excited to be able to share what we have learned with the rest of our team, so we can achieve this together.”

Committed to our vision to Create a Better Tomorrow Today, MGM has consistently endeavored to create dedicated learning and development programs and plans, providing over 2.6 million training hours since opening MGM MACAU in 2007.
