MGM Supports Workplace Inclusion through Unique Training Opportunities with Fuhong
MGM and Fuhong Society of Macau launch a joint project to help polish up the employment skills of students with special needs in the hotel industry.

In order to develop and help students with special needs, MGM and Fuhong Society of Macau recently launched a joint project to help polish up their employment skills in the hotel industry. The MGM Vocational Training Room, located at Pou Lei Center of Fuhong Society of Macau, was opened with the attendance of Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; and Ms. Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM.

The MGM Vocational Training Room is a mock-up of a hotel guest room featuring MGM design elements. Through this long-term vocation program facilitated by MGM Housekeeping trainers, the Fuhong members can receive housekeeping training in highly realistic surroundings, mastering the knowledge and skills in guest room cleaning, while enhancing their communication skills with MGM’s housekeeping team members.

Ms. Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said, “We believe every person is important and can play an active role in the society. With the vocational training center, MGM is delighted to be part of their journey of building a self-sufficient life and making great moments for themselves and their family.”

Forging Culture of Inclusion

Another initiative to create an inclusive and equitable workplace – MGM has invited the Fuhong Society of Macau to provide a set of tailored-made Inclusions and Effective Communications training courses based on the needs of MGM workforce, incorporated with case scenarios, for 80 team members mainly from Housekeeping, Floral, Food and Beverage, Kitchen and Human Resources where team members with disabilities are working. It consists of several modules, such as Hiring and Managing of Employees with Disabilities, and Effective Communication and Work Management of Employees with Disabilities, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills in communicating and coordinating with employees with special needs at work and better understand their world. Ms. Jennifer Chou, Director of Fuhong Society of Macau, shared her real-life experience and tips on how to “manage”, “communicate with” and “include” these group of special needs.
