MGM and MPI Join Hands in Cultivating Hospitality Talent
Launch Management Certificate Course to Cope with GBA Development
MGM has tailored a Certificate Course in Management with MPI for its PRIDE’s Specialist Track members.

MGM always strives to provide its team members with comprehensive training and development opportunities, and to cultivate them with a global perspective. In collaboration with Macau Polytechnic Institute (MPI), MGM has tailored a Certificate Course in Management for its PRIDE’s Specialist Track members to enhance their skills, and promote their upward mobility while contributing towards the professional development for the hospitality industry in the Greater Bay Area.

The PRIDE Program is one of the diverse training programs that MGM offers to develop high-potential employees. It offers the PRIDE associates a rich mix of learning opportunities alongside educational field trips. Its four tracks, namely Leadership, Managerial, Specialist, and Supervisory, are set to prepare staff of different levels and departments to take on more challenges for the next stage of their career advancement. The Certificate Course in Management is designed to cater the needs of the hospitality industry in Macau, covering a wide range of topics such as decision-making skills, conflict management, priority setting, as well as establishing and managing customer relationships. Team members who complete the course will receive a joint certificate from MGM and MPI.

Prof. Wang Changbin, Director of Gaming Teaching and Research Center at MPI, said, “We support MGM in talent development to promote Macau locals’ upward mobility. Our Center has co-organized various types of training courses with MGM, participants from frontline to management level. I believe that the students can have learning gains and be better equipped for the future opportunities.”

Mr. Bob Harwood, Vice President of Table Games Strategy & Operations of MGM, said, “At MGM, personal and career growth are of equal importance. Therefore, we worked closely with various educational institutions in Macau to facilitate the career development of our team members. To those team members committed to the arduous task of study, along with work and family commitments; we are incredibly proud of their effort, and are grateful to share in the joy and satisfaction that comes from seeing them realize their goals.”

In 2016, MPI launched the Diploma in Gaming Management for MGM, the first-ever dedicated gaming management training program for an integrated resort operator. With positive feedback from team members, the Company collaborated with MPI again to launch this one-and-a-half-year program for MGM team members from departments of Table Games, Slot, Cage, and Surveillance. It is specially designed for gaming staff to broaden their knowledge on gaming management and to nurture high-quality managerial talent in the industry.
