MGM Supports DSAL’s Occupational Safety and Health Tour

[November 7, 2017, Macau] Last week, a group of 60 professionals and practitioners from the local hospitality and catering industry visited MGM MACAU for an insightful presentation on MGM’s occupational safety and health (OSH) initiatives, followed by a guided tour of the resort’s catering operations and award-winning kitchens.

The Catering Industry Occupational Safety and Health Tour was organized by Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (DSAL).  The activity began with an opening speech by Mr. Wong Chi Hong, Director of DSAL, who said, “MGM’s excellence in workplace culture and practices will serve as a role model to other practitioners, helping to enhance the overall OSH standards in the local catering industry. This tour provides a great platform for industry practitioners to gain fresh perspectives on improving their OSH.” On the occasion, Mr. Keith Lei, Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, also introduced MGM to the participants and gave them a glimpse of the Company’s new and innovative integrated resort, MGM COTAI, slated to open in January 2018.

To provide participants with an in-depth understanding on how hospitality businesses manage health and safety, Ms. Alice LaoDirector of Risk & Safety of MGM, introduced the Company’s best practices in OSH. Led by Mr. Winston Yeung, Executive Director of Risk & Safety of MGM, the group was then taken on a tour of the resort’s catering operations including the award-winning kitchens in Square 8, to have an up-close observation on how MGM implements health and safety initiatives in order to create a safe and healthy work environment.

Workplace health and safety is a prime concern at MGM. Earlier this year, MGM signed the “Occupational Safety and Health Charter,” an industry-wide commitment to workplace safety initiated by DSAL. The Company also received a total of 15 awards including the silver award in Corporate Safety Performance in the 2nd DSAL Catering Industry Occupational Safety and Health Award Program.
