MGM Visits Guizhou to Support Poverty Alleviation

Nov 22, 2018

As an avid supporter of Mainland’s out of poverty drive, MGM was honored to be invited by Associação de Agências de Emprego de Capital da China (Macau) to organize a recruitment fair and a seminar in the Guizhou Poverty Support Trip last month. With the common goals of alleviating poverty and encouraging economic development in Guizhou Province, MGM hopes to explore a new platform for bringing the labor of Guizhou to Macau during the visit.

Labor migration is one of the most effective and easy-to-implement methods for poverty alleviation. As the Company attaches great importance to the national poverty alleviation works and to support Guizhou’s labor export strategy, MGM’s Human Resources team together with representatives of operations departments, hosted a recruitment fair in the Kaili city of Guizhou province.  The recruitment fair attracted over 400 candidates who were mainly farmers, housewives, or low-skilled workers. MGM’s representatives had interviewed over 100 applicants, and more than 30 applicants were shortlisted for the positions of security officer, food & beverage attendant and housekeeping attendant.

Nurturing young people today for tomorrow’s talent is part of MGM’s sustainability mission. The next day following the recruitment fair, MGM held a seminar in Guiyang city and met with representatives and more than 300 students from three colleges: E-commerce in Guizhou Vocational and Technical College; Career Technical College Guiyang; and Guizhou Tourism School. After the seminar, MGM has in-depth discussions with local authorities and Associação de Agências de Emprego de Capital da China (Macau) on the significance of talent development and how to lay a solid foundation for the students in both skills and knowledge. MGM will continue to join forces with Associação de Agências de Emprego de Capital da China (Macau) and Guizhou government, as well as to support the labor export strategy and poverty alleviation in future.
