MGM MACAU Awarded “Family-Friendly Employer” by Women's General Association Only Hotel Recognized for Providing a Range of Family-Friendly Programs to Staff

[October 28, 2014] MGM MACAU was awarded the “Family-Friendly Employers” accolade under the  “Corporations” category of the Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme, hosted by The Women's General Association of Macau, and co-organized by the Social Welfare Bureau of Macau SAR and the Women’s Commission of Macau SAR, and was the only hotel property in Macau to have received the recognition.

The “Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme 2014” Award Ceremony was held on October 23 at the Macau Tower. The Scheme aims to promote family-friendly culture within businesses in Macau, to arouse public attention to the importance of work-family balance, and to encourage corporations to implement relevant measures. The awarded corporations were elected through votes cast by representatives from governmental departments and organizations, including the Social Welfare Bureau, the Labour Affairs Bureau of Macau, the Women’s Commission of Macau, and Macau Federation of Trade Unions.

Mr. Grant R. Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “The award is an acknowledgement and encouragement to the team, and how we work with each other to create a healthy working environment. We care about the well-being of our team members, and part of that is to help them strike a balance between taking care of their families and giving their best at work.  We will always uphold the work-family balance among our teams, and from that, to create a harmonious and spirited experience.”

In promoting family-friendly culture, MGM MACAU has introduced various programs to develop the well-being of team members and their families, such as: the “Employee Assistance Program” which provides both hotline and one-on-one counselling service, and seminars on topics relating to family and financial issues; “A Day with MGM” gave team members’ children and siblings, a one-day apprenticeship  to experience the challenges and joy of being a part of the Golden Lion Team; the “MGM Golden Lion Summer Camp” took local youths to the rural for adventure training, which helps to build problem-solving skills and to discover their own abilities.
