MGM Brings Eye-opening Experience to Changzhou Students with World-Class Integrated Leisure and Tourism Offerings

Jul 15, 2016

[July 15, 2016, Macau] Co-organized by Changzhou Municipal Tourism Bureau and China Diaoyutai Travel (Macau) Co., Ltd., the Changzhou Student Study Tour to Macau was held successfully. With the objectives of supporting young generations to understand Macau’s unique cross-cultural and historical heritage through this memorable experience, MGM has particularly prepared a wide array of art, cultural and family fun activities with a closing ceremony for over 40 teachers, students and parents, as well as a group of Changzhou delegation.

The group was much excited to visit MGM MACAU as the last stop of their Study Tour, which has helped them to better understand the diversified art and cultural offerings that Macau encompasses. The Group enjoyed strolling through the Butterfly Garden at Grande Praça and watched the fish-feeding show at the Aquarium, followed by a guided art tour at the “Edgar Degas: Figures in Motion” exhibition at MGM Art Space. The art guides shared historical background and stories about the renowned artist and French art, giving the Group a valuable experience. MGM has also prepared fun family activities such as creating simple art works which unleashes their creativity; they were also given souvenir postcards to write to their families about their experiences in Macau.

A closing ceremony and dinner reception was held afterwards for teachers, students and parents, officials from Changzhou government and Macau government, as well as representatives from various Offices of the Central People's Government in Macau. A series of performances were specially prepared for the celebrated evening, including the traditional Portuguese folk dance arranged by the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Associação de Danças e Cantares Portuguesa ‘Macau no Coração’, as well as the endearing lion dance presented by MGM’s Junior Lion Dance Troupe. The local young lion dancers also shared their stories of learning the traditional sport with the young Changzhou students after showcasing their dynamic moves.

In his address to the Study Tour members at the ceremony, Mr. Hubert Wang, Senior Vice President of Finance & Chief Financial Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited, said,  “MGM is delighted to be part of this initiative as it  provides a unique opportunity for the younger generation from the Mainland to better understand and experience Macau’s well-blended cross-cultural prosperity under the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle; it also helps to promote Macau’s position as the world center of tourism and leisure within the Mainland, and enhances the educational innovation and interaction between Macau and her homeland."

Mr. Yun Xufeng, Director of the Public Information Service Center of Changzhou Tourism said, “Macau is such a stunning place, and it is complemented with unparalleled service quality from every industry. I am particularly impressed by the wide array of art and cultural activities that was prepared by MGM for the Group, all of them are both entertaining yet informative and educational.”

Liu Qianning, a young schoolgirl from Changzhou, expressed her joy towards the performance, “On behalf of all members of the Study Tour, I would like to thank MGM for its thoughtful arrangements, which made it possible for us to truly experience the artistic side of Macau. We have formed an unforgettable camaraderie with local children as well as other members of the community through our journey. May the friendship between Changzhou and Macau be long-lasting.”
MGM will continue to host and take part in a wide range of community exchange initiatives, to further fulfill our commitment to Creating a Better Tomorrow Today.
