MGM Welcomed Special Olympics and Tung Sin Tong with Guided Art Tours

Promoting Social Inclusion in the Community through Various Art Programs

Aug 25, 2016

[August 25, 2016, Macau] MGM has always been a keen supporter of Macau’s development of social inclusion through art and culture. On August 20, 22 and 25, MGM welcomed over 100 members from Macau Special Olympics and senior citizens from the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society to guided art tours at MGM MACAU, in an effort to make art accessible to all members of our society, while promoting social inclusion within the local community.

With the fun and intriguing introduction by MGM’s art guides, who are also local university students, the visiting groups were amazed and fascinated by the fish-feeding show as well as the large, vibrant glass butterflies hovering in the Grande Praça. These groups of visitors were then treated to a guided art tour at MGM Art Space and appreciated a collection of 74 sculptures of horses, dancers and bathing women under the current art exhibition Edgar Degas: Figures in Motion, then enjoyed a wide array of fun and creative activities at the interactive area of Art Space.

Mr. Siu Yu Hong, CEO of Macau Special Olympics, thanked MGM after the tour and said, “It’s never hard for the mentally challenged to engage with the society if the right conditions and opportunities are created for them; what MGM has organized for them demonstrates the right social responsibility shouldered by the corporate as the activity helped increase the mutual understanding between our special members and the rest of the community.”

Bringing world class art and cultural experiences paired with interactive guided art tours for all members of our community is part of MGM’s objectives to make art accessible people from all walks of life. In addition, we give our art guides the opportunity to experience social harmony while serving our community members with special needs. MGM will continue to host group visits for local community members and visitors alike to inspire the public the importance of social inclusion while expanding their knowledge of art.
