MGM Receives “Outstanding Social Caring Organization Award”

Being Recognized for Its Dedication to the Community, Its Employees and the Environment

Mar 1, 2017

[March 1, 2017, Macau] MGM has garnered the “Outstanding Social Caring Organization Award” at the 5th Social Caring Pledge Scheme organized by Social Enterprise Research Institute (SERI) of Hong Kong, being the only integrated resort in Macau to have received this award. This also marks the second time that the Company has been awarded the accolade, with further recognition for its continuous efforts in social responsibility initiatives.

“This award highlights our commitment to inspire the highest standards of social responsibility,” Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said. “Besides strengthening our leadership in environmental-friendly operations, we are also keen to motivate team members to reach their full potential through a variety of training and development programs, and to find innovative ways to give back to the community where we live and work. With the expansion of MGM’s footprint in Macau, we see this as an opportunity to lead the way to promote stronger corporate social responsibility locally, while continuing to position Macau as a world leisure and tourism destination.”

The Outstanding Social Caring Organization Award is judged on numerous factors to elect the outstanding corporates across various industries in Asia, taking into consideration of the candidates’ social responsibility in the categories of environmental protection, labor standards, human rights, and anti-corruption practices. This year, the panel of judges includes the Dr. Peter Liao, Honorary Chairman of UN Global Compact; Prof. Wei Zhao, Rector of University of Macau; Prof. Richard Olesen, Honorary Chancellor of SERI, as well as other university heads.

Continuous Initiatives to Serve Our Community

In 2016, MGM and its team served the Macau community in numerous ways: The Volunteer Team completed a new record of more than 6,400 hours of community service through 95 community events. For our staff of approximately 6,000, we provided more than 268,900 training hours and hosted a variety of teambuilding initiatives. In the area of environmental sustainability, we were selected to join the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index among top sustainability leaders on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and achieved Two-Star Certification under the China Green Building (Macau) Design Label for MGM COTAI, making it the first and largest private property to have achieved such recognition.
