MGM Awarded ‘Hiring Disabled Staff Recognition Scheme’
Enhancing Workplace Equality and Social Inclusion

[July 26, 2017, MACAU] MGM is proud to be awarded the biennial “Hiring Disabled Staff Recognition Scheme” organized by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) of the Macao SAR for the fifth time. This accolade not only recognizes MGM’s support in workplace diversity and inclusion, but also being an outstanding employer that welcomes disabled employees. At present, MGM has 38 employees with disabilities working in seven departments.

Besides providing career opportunities to local disabled community, MGM is also keen in developing youth with disabilities. For four straight years, MGM participated in the DSAL’s “Summer Work Experience Program 2017” designed specifically for secondary school students with disabilities, and welcomed four of them to work at Food & Beverage and Floral departments. Through this meaningful program, MGM hopes to provide the students the opportunity to gain practical work experience, while enabling them to become more confident in their capacities under the guidance of our seasoned team members.

Cherry Wong who is mobility impaired, works at MGM to support administrative needs of Food & Beverage department, under the Summer Work Experience Program. She said, “I was one of the winners of Macau Outstanding Teenager sponsored by MGM in 2016. It was when I started to learn that MGM is a caring company and therefore, I chose to start my internship here despite other opportunities. After immersing in its employer-friendly corporate culture over three weeks, I can assure that I have made the right choice.”

In addition to its excellence in promoting social inclusion, MGM garnered four awards earlier at “The 2nd Family-Friendly Employers Award Scheme” hosted by The Women’s General Association of Macau, underlying the Company’s pioneering role in creating a positive, family-friendly working environment that helps employees strike a good work-life balance. The accolades include “Family-Friendly Employer for Supporting Nursing Mothers,” “Family-Friendly Employer for Supporting Paid Paternity Leave,” “Excellent Family-Friendly Employer,” and “Excellent Family-Friendly Employer – Gold Award,” a recognition only received by two enterprises in Macau.
