[May 17, 2017, Macau] Celebrating 10 years of artistry and entertainment in Macau, MGM MACAU proudly presents the first-time exhibition A Golden Way of Life - Très’Ors at MGM Art Space from now to September 3, 2017. As part of the Le French May Silver Jubilee Celebrations, A Golden Way of Life - Très’Ors invites the public to embark on a fascinating journey curated by Anne Camilli from Le Musée à la Carte® and Gilles Bonnevialle of Maecenae, exploring a collection of over 250 exquisite pieces of gold creations and artifacts comprised of classic and contemporary art works, religious artifacts, vintage furniture pieces, fashion and accessories, precious watch and jewelry, and remarkable everyday life objects from the 17th century to modern day items in gold.
The Opening Ceremony of the exhibiton was held at MGM Art Space on May 17. It was officiated by Mr. Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Dr. Alexis Tam, Secretary of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR; Mr. Eric Berti, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau; Mr. Xue Xiaofeng, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Pan Yundong, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR; Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Dr. Andrew Yuen, Chairman of the Board of Le French May, and Ms. Anne Camilli, Curator of A Golden Way of Life – Trés’Ors Exhibition.
“In the past ten golden years, MGM MACAU has been a contributor to the city’s development of cultural and creative industries. Through an array of art and cultural events of international caliber, MGM has been bringing the world to Macau with world-class art experience, and bringing Macau to the world,” Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson & Executive Director, MGM China Holdings Limited, addressed. “With the opening of MGM COTAI, we will continue to pursue widespread art and cultural magnificence, connecting East with West and blending tradition with innovation. MGM will continue to build a platform to facilitate cultural exchange between Macau, Mainland China and the rest of the world.”
Mr. Eric Berti, Consul General of France in Hong Kong & Macau said at the ceremony, “This exhibition brought over 250 works together for the first time, from French museums and private collections, among them remarkable pieces from Musée Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon, a 1930’s Zadkine sculpture, jewels from the Boucheron collection, and vintage pieces by Yves Saint Laurent. This exhibition celebrates in a very unique way the French creators and the “savoir faire à la française” and I am very happy to present it in Macao.”
A Golden Way of Life - Très’Ors exhibition adds another exciting chapter to MGM MACAU’s portfolio of art events. Devoted to nurturing the arts, exploring the development of diversity in leisure elements and promoting public interest in culture, MGM has been harmonizing world cultures with its diversified entertainment and offerings. These include captivating and thought-provoking exhibitions such as “Valkyrie Octopus” by Joana Vasconcelos and Edgar Degas: Figures in Motion, as well as a wide variety of staple events like the inaugural International Film Festival & Awards•Macao (IFFAM). With the opening of MGM COTAI, MGM refreshes its art offerings with the MGM COTAI Art Collection, an MGM-commissioned permanent art collection linking both traits to the affluent heritage of China and Asia with over 300 masterpieces to be unveiled at the resort’s opening in 2018. By blending various offerings available at both MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI, MGM is dedicated to refine unique cultural adventure that consolidates Macau’s position as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.
