Premiere of Jinggang Jinggang in Macau
Performed by the dancers of the Youth Dance Company of BDA, Jinggang Jinggang illustrates hardships the Chinese Red Army encountered during the days of war at the Jinggang Mountains, the cradle of Chinese revolution, presented with the dance movements of Jiangxi Tea-picking Opera and classical Jiangxi folk music. Since its premiere in 2017, Jinggang Jinggang has been staged at many Chinese cities, and has received multiple recognitions from prestigious institutions of China, including the Dance Drama Award at the 11th Lotus Awards, one of the highest awards of Chinese dance.
Through re-creating the vivid scenes and stories of the Jinggang Mountains, Jinggang Jinggang sets a ground for the audiences to better understand the history of the Chinese revolution, while fostering national identity and pride. For its premiere in Macau, the performance is going to pair with the ultra-high resolution LED screen at MGM Theater to present a fine blend of traditional art and innovation.
Jinggang Jinggang Community Workshop
With the objective of nurturing the young dancers of Macau, while encouraging conversations between artists of Mainland China and Macau, MGM brings Jinggang Jinggang to the local community on September 22. Professional dancers of the Youth Dance Company of BDA are to host a dancing workshop with 80 participants from local school dancing teams, dancing associations, MGM dancing team and other local dancing amateurs. During the workshop, the dancers of BDA share their professional dancer journey, and teach a piece of Han Chinese folk dance Northeast Yangge to the participants in small groups. The workshop is concluded with a group performance, which is indeed a precious opportunity for local dancers to engage with state-class dancers and to enhance their dancing skills.
