After rounds of fierce competitions, the “MGM Lion Dance Championship – Macau International Invitational 2019” officially concluded with a glorious ceremony at the MGM Theater today. Yiwei Athletic Association (Singapore) and China Shenzhen Fuhai Qiaotou Lion Dance Association won the championship titles of the “Traditional Lion Dance Championship” and the “Female Traditional Lion Dance Championship” respectively, while MGM Golden Lion Troupe - Team A and Wenyang Sports Association (Singapore) took home the gold trophies of this year’s “Junior Lion Dance Performance Competition”.
Guests of Honor, including Maria Helena De Senna Fernandes, Representative of Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macau SAR Government and Director of Macau Government Tourist Office; Chan Weng Kit, President of Wushu General Association of Macau and Chairman of Dragon & Lion Dance Federation of Asia; Wong Tat Choi, Director of Centre of Permanent Education of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Chao Chi Man, Honorary Chairman of the Organizing Committee of MGM Lion Dance Championship; and Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, presented trophies to the winning teams to mark a successful conclusion of the two-day event.
Going into the second day of the Championship, “Traditional Lion Dance Championship” was on stage, where 10 world-class troupes battled fiercely for the throne of the year, flaunted their swift, well-synchronized movements and skilled techniques on the poles to wow the audience. At the end, Yiwei Athletic Association (Singapore) outshined all other teams and won the championship title with their solid and energetic performance, while China Shenzhen Fuhai Qiaotou Lion Dance Association and Chinese Taipei Lian Feng Dragon Lion Dance Group finished as the First and Second Runners-up respectively.
Meanwhile in the “Female Traditional Lion Dance Championship”, China Shenzhen Fuhai Qiaotou Lion Dance Association won the championship title, while Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Dragon and Lion Dance Association Hung Kuen Lee Yun Fook Lion Dance Team and Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association (United States) scored second and third places respectively. On the other hand, in the crowd’s favorite “Junior Lion Dance Performance Competition”, MGM Golden Lion Troupe - Team A, which is assembled with graduates from MGM’s Junior Lion Dance Training Program, and Wenyang Sports Association (Singapore) had a very keen competition. Both teams ended up with excellent scores and took home the Gold Trophies. MGM Golden Lion Troupe - Team B, another team of graduates from MGM’s Junior Lion Dance Training Program, also won one of the Silver Trophies with their astonishing performance.
