MGM joins hands with Sheng Kung Hui to Launch Community-wide Speech Therapy Service in Macau
First-ever Mobile Therapy Vehicle in GBA to Promote Speech Development in Children
MGM and SKH launched a kick-off ceremony for “Ü CARE Moving Care and Service Shuttle” in the presence of nearly 100 guests.

With a keen sense of bringing innovative social services to the Macau community, MGM joins hands with its long-term community partner, Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office (“SKH”), to acquire a bus that allows SKH speech therapy team to travel conveniently to different parts of Macau to serve children and families in need, making it the first mobile therapy vehicle in the Greater Bay Area to promote speech development in children. Today the two parties launched a kick-off ceremony for this new program at Sheng Kung Hui Escola Choi Kou Macau in the presence of nearly 100 guests.

As the city made strides in improving early childhood intervention services and related facilities, the Macau SAR government began to nurture local talent for this profession with tertiary education program. Through the experience of speech therapists, service users and student counselors, SKH recognized the need for highly accessible speech therapy services with an emphasis on preventive care. With the support and sponsorship of MGM, SKH purchased a vehicle to executive this innovative social service. Called “Ü CARE Moving Care and Service Shuttle”, the vehicle comes into service in the spirit of “Offering Personalized Care and Professional Service; Standing with Service Users and Being Innovative” and “Breaking with Tradition”.

Measuring 7.2 meter by 3.5 meter with a maximum load of 8.5 tonnes, Ü CARE Moving Care and Service Shuttle” provides speech development-related services to people of different backgrounds with high flexibility and mobility. With more innovative elements that suit the needs of service users, the “Ü CARE” bus goes to different schools and areas to give people an easy access to a range of services, including consulting, case referrals and educational groups on language development. It also disseminates information about child and speech development to parents and the public.

Hubert Wang, President & Chief Operating Officer of MGM, said, “MGM keeps abreast of the development of Macau society. We have collaborated with various social service organizations to launch innovative services and diversify the city’s service resources. As the first of its kind in the Greater Bay Area, the “Ü CARE” bus is specially designed for promoting speech development in children, and marks another milestone of MGM’s 10-year partnership with SKH. With our shared vision of community service, we hope that this program will benefit everyone in need, so as to spread our loving care and seeds of happiness to every corner.”

The kick-off ceremony was attended by Hoi Va Pou, Acting Director of the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macau SAR; Leong Vai Kei, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Lin Danhong, Assistant Director-General of Social Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau SAR; Chan Ioc Sut, Head of Research and Investigation Department of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau; Hubert Wang, President & Chief Operating Officer of MGM; and Revd. Odette Pun, Member of Management Committee of Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office. They were joined by representatives of schools, social service organizations and community groups along with practitioners of speech development.  Through the introduction by speech therapists and professional counselors, the guests were able to gain a deeper understanding of the new program from exhibition booths, display boards and a tour of the “Ü CARE” bus.
