MGM held the annual blessing ceremony for its Dragon Boat Team at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Center on May 28. Led by a team of the Company’s senior executives, the ceremony was to extend best wishes to 52 MGM team members who will take part in the “Macao International Dragon Boat Races 2021”. Consisting of over 80% of local employees, the Dragon Boat Team will compete across four categories.
Senior executives of MGM, including Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic & Financial Officer; Antonio Menano, Executive Vice President of Legal & General Counsel; Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources; Tian Han, Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations & Strategic Marketing; and Peter Chen, Senior Vice President of VIP Operations, performed a series of traditional rituals, such as offering incense, carving a suckling pig and eye-dotting the dragon boats – a gesture made to symbolically awaken the spirit of the boats, followed by an energetic performance by the cheerleading squad. The ceremony was then drew to a successful closing as the Dragon Boat Team rowed together in the shower of festive confetti cannons.
Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic & Financial Officer of MGM, said, “In MGM, we care about both the physical and mental well-being of our team members. We always encourage them to take part in various sports, particularly traditional Chinese sports like the dragon boats. Not only it enables team members to get physically fit as well as to embody the spirit of unity, cooperation and determination, it is also a great opportunity to get more connected with Chinese traditional culture, hence boosting their cultural confidence. Over the years, our Dragon Boat Team has scored extraordinary results in the races. The Team has been dedicating their spare time to months of intensive trainings, determined to excel the race with their best performances. Everyone in MGM wishes all the very best to the Team in reaching new heights and greatness with our Golden Lion spirit and endeavors.”
