Dedicated to promoting lifelong learning among its team members, MGM strives to provide a diverse range of training and opportunities, in view of helping them unlock new achievements and career advancement. In 2016, the Company launched the MGM High School Diploma Program — a continuing education scheme designed to let team members attain their secondary school diplomas while working. Riding on the success of the first edition of the Program, which helped 41 team members attained their middle and high school diplomas, with seven of them advanced to universities, MGM launched the second edition this year for 65 spirited learners.
The opening ceremony of the second edition of the Program took place in early September, which was attended by a line-up of guests, including Wong Ka Ki, Head of the Department of Non-tertiary Education of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ); Tam Wai Kio, Acting Director of the Division of Continuing Education of the DSEDJ; Cheang Hong Kuong, Principal of Escola Seong Fan da Associacao Comercial De Macau; Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM; and the teaching staffs of Escola Seong Fan da Associacao Comercial De Macau.
The MGM High School Diploma Program is fully supported by the Company. To help team members sail through their studies, MGM hosts the classes taught by the school’s teachers at its properties, and the relevant departments also re-arrange their rosters to fit in the class schedules. With all of these convenient measures, team members are able to juggle work and study with ease, making the graduating class of the first edition of the Program the largest group among all integrated resorts operators. With proven track record, this year MGM partners with Escola Seong Fan da Associação Comercial de Macau – together with the support of the DSEDJ – to offer high school curriculum to 65 team members from seven departments.
Wong Ka Ki, Head of the Department of Non-tertiary Education of the DSEDJ, said, “The DSEDJ strives to promote continuing education which benefits all Macau residents. It is not easy for an employee to engage in study during leisure time. But thanks to the strong backing of MGM, its team members can enjoy a smooth learning journey. I wish them a bright future and witness their graduation ceremony in the future.”
Cheang Hong Kuong, Principal of Escola Seong Fan Da Associacao Comercial De Macau, said, “The Program embodies a great accomplishment achieved by the synergy between DSEDJ, MGM and our school. I want to express my gratitude to MGM which continually seeks to offer an enhanced learning environment to help its staff upskill themselves.”
