A lineup of honorable guests attended the event to celebrate the second anniversary of Macau Assistive Technology Resources Center.

The Macau Assistive Technology Resources Center, which is operated by the General Union of Neighbor Association of Macao (UGAMM), sponsored by MGM and supported by Social Welfare Bureau, celebrated its second anniversary on November 27 with a celebration ceremony and an open-house event. The activity provided the public an opportunity to learn more about the Center’s auxiliary tools services, so that the community can get more acquainted with related resources.

The activity was attended by a lineup of honorable guests, including Zhou Xiaowu, Assistant of the Department of Social Affairs of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R; Lao Kit Im, Head of Children and Youth Service Division of Social Welfare Bureau; Wong Soi Tou, Head of Community Rehabilitation Services of Health Bureau; Choi Hio Chan, Supervisor of Psychological Support and Special Education Center of Education and Youth Development Bureau; Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM; Lao Sut Man, Consultant of Macau Assistive Technology Resources Center and Director General of Macau Deaf Association; Ho Kuok Meng, Consultant of Macau Assistive Technology Resources Center and Secretary-general of Macau Association of Support for the Disabled; Chan Ka Leong, Director General of UGAMM; and Ho Ion Sang, Legislator and Vice President of UGAMM.

Committed to bettering quality of lives for people in need, the Center serves the local community with a diverse range of auxiliary tools services, including assessment service and auxiliary tools rental service, as well as educational programs to promote the use of auxiliary tools. It is to echo with the initiative of improve independency and social involvement to bettering life quality of people with disabilities from the SAR government’s “10-year Plan for Rehabilitation Services”. Throughout the past two years, the Center continues to enhance itself by launching new and innovative services – an example would be the post-hospital-care support service, launched just this year. The Center hopes to lend its helping hand to more elderly, people with disabilities and hospitalized patients with suitable auxiliary tools, so that they may keep up with their body functions and improve self-care abilities.

As the sponsor of the Center, MGM has also been conducting an array of supporting champaigns and activities, on top of funding the operations of the Center. Sharing the same ambition of promoting the use of auxiliary tools to citizens of all ages and spreading the spirit of caring, the Company constantly arranges its volunteer team to receive auxiliary tools training, hosts familiarization programs and organizes school tours to the Center.

On the other hand, the Center also joins hands with UGAMM’s Kin Lok Life Station to provide more comprehensive supports for people in need. With its one-stop service covering auxiliary tools assessment, barrier-free home renovation, purchasing, user tutorials to tools cleaning and maintenance, the Center hopes to elevate the living quality of elderly and people with disabilities, as well as to reduce the stress on family caregivers.
