MGM Organized Celebratory Events for May Fourth Youth Day
Over 20 Youth Groups Embrace the National Spirit
MGM organized the “Celebration of China’s May Fourth Youth Day — Macau Youth’s Development in Greater Bay Area Symposium & ‘Macao: Back to Common Roots Narrative Film’”.

MGM has always put nurturing local youth as part of its key development focuses. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Communist Youth League of China and commemorate the 103rd anniversary of "May Fourth Movement", MGM organized the “Celebration of China’s May Fourth Youth Day — Macau Youth’s Development in Greater Bay Area Symposium & ‘Macao: Back to Common Roots Narrative Film’” on May 14. The event saw outstanding local business representatives sharing their insights and experience over the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) with more than 200 members from over 20 local youth groups and MGM team members. The series of events are intended to promote the spirit of the May Fourth Movement and Nationalism among local youth.

The event took place at MGM Theater, with a line-up of guests, including: Cheng Qi Yin, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of China Liaison Office; Sio Chi Wai, Macau Deputy of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China and President of the Macau Development Strategy Research Centre (CPEDM); Chao Chong Hang, Secretary-General of Talents Development Committee of Macau SAR Government; Cheang Sek Kit, Head of the Division of Curriculum Development and Assessment of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ); Anita Tai, Secretary-General of Macao Youth Federation; Lok Hei, Executive Producer of “Macao: Back To Common Roots Narrative Film”; Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic and Financial Officer of MGM; and Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM.

The event was hosted by MGM, with the support of CPEDM and Macau Youth Federation. The Macau Youth’s Development in Greater Bay Area Symposium was the lead-off activity on the day — where Chan Chi Fong, Secretary-General of CPEDM was invited to be moderator; and Palemon Lok Peng Tong, Chairman of the Board of Great China Group Shares Limited; Patinda Lei Lai Fong, President of Macao Bay Area Digital Economy Association; and Lao Chi Long, Vice President of Macao Youth Federation as speakers to share their hands-on experience and insights on their venture into the GBA, and encourage local youth to proactively align themselves with the development of the Nation and the GBA.

It was followed by a screening of “Macao: Back to Common Roots Narrative Film” — which was jointly produced by MGM and local renowned artist Lok Hei. By tapping into the advanced digital technology of MGM Theater, the Film chronicles the stories of Macau through an innovative approach of "art + technology". Through the screening, MGM aspires to deepen the knowledge of Macau’s history and culture among local youth and to strengthen their love for the Nation and Macau. Lok Hei also shared his creative philosophy for the film as well as his feelings of loving the Nation with the audience.

During the event, MGM and Macau Youth Federation jointly launched the "Community Outreach eLearning Commemorating the May Fourth Movement", an online course open to the general public. It narrates the history of the May Fourth Movement with vivid animations, intended to enable more local youth to better understand the movement’s spirit, encouraging them to actively contribute to the Nation.
