Jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and Ursa Major Sailing Event Management and title sponsored by MGM, the “2023 MGM Macao International Regatta” takes place on January 5 to 8. Having the honor to become the title sponsor of the event, MGM devotes its undivided support towards this international maritime sport event hosted by Macau. In view of enriching sports tourism products to make the race more attractive and engaging to all, MGM organizes a diverse lineup of side events at MGM MACAU, including the new “Sailing Fun Day” and the display of Hobie 16 sailboat. These fascinating happenings welcome all residents and tourists to experience and enjoy the charm of sailing sports, as well as the allure of Macau’s shores.
The “Sailing Fun Day” is a three-day event taking place from January 6 to 8 at the Vista of MGM MACAU. The fun-packed event includes an array of sailing-themed game booths, remote-controlled sailboats competitions, Optimist sailing and windsurfing trial experiences, family workshops, gastronomic offerings and interactive performances. Participants may fully immerse into the fervor of sports tourism with exciting prizes offered, such as the limited-edition Regatta MGM Leo lion plush doll.
The opening ceremony of “Sailing Fun Day” took place today (January 7), which was attended by a lineup of guests of honor, including: Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR; Ma Man Wai, President of Ursa Major Sailing Event Management; Allen Lau and Christine Lam, Vice Presidents of the Sports Bureau; Chan Un Seng, Head of Maritime Services Division of Marine and Water Bureau; Brian Sou, Chairman of Macau Sailing Association; Chan Ka Leong, Director General of General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM); Un Sio Leng, President of the Women’s General Association of Macau (Women's Association); Chio Lan Ieng, Vice President of Board of Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM), and Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic & Financial Officer of MGM. On the same day, MGM also invited 70 parents and children from UGAMM, Women’s Association and FAOM to spend some fun family time at the “Sailing Fun Day”.
Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic & Financial Officer of MGM, said, “In view of promoting the initiative of ‘Tourism+Sports’, MGM has rolled out several spin-off happenings, including sailboat display and family fun day last year, when we first became the title sponsor of the race. This year, we took an extra mile to extend our reach with the new ‘Sailing Fun Day’, a themed carnival with game booths and an array of activities, alongside tasty delicacies by the beautiful seashore of the Macau peninsula. Being a unique spot for parents and children to spend a pleasant, fun weekend under the sun, it at the same time helps the public to explore their interest in maritime sports. MGM will continue to create more diverse activities for the race in order to maximize the synergy of Macau’s sports events in the future.”
