As Macau reconnects with the world, MGM has been proactively attracting and welcoming overseas visitors to Macau, in response to the Macao SAR Government’s call in expanding international market. Earlier this month, MGM has hosted the first “Celebrate Songkran in Macau” dinner in the past three years at MGM COTAI, which welcomed nearly 200 guests from Thailand to celebrate this important Thai festival in Macau. MGM hopes to encourage the cultural exchange between Thailand and Macau through this unique Thai festivity.
“Celebrate Songkran in Macau” dinner took place at the Vista of MGM COTAI, which was attended by a lineup of guests, including Mr. Ricky Hoi, Acting Director of Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO); Mr. Hubert Wang, President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited; Mr. Peter Chen, Senior Vice President of VIP Marketing of MGM; Mr. Justin Lu, Vice President of Regional Marketing of MGM; and Ms. Frederica Fok, Vice President of Customer Relationship Marketing of MGM.
Mr. Ricky Hoi, Acting Director of MGTO, said, “Since Macau reopened its door to the world, the city is starting to see an increasing number of overseas visitors. Hence, MGTO is thrilled to know that tourism industry peers are proactively organizing promotional events to expand the overseas market together. With Thailand identified as a key tourism market to Macau, we believe that this Songkran celebration of prosperity brought to us by MGM, is a great occasion for our locals and visitors to learn and experience more about the Thai festive culture, as well as the charm of ‘Tourism+’ that Macau has to offer.”
Songkran is one of the most important new year celebrations in Thailand. In view to make the guests from Thai feel at home during the grand festival, MGM has thoughtfully incorporated an array of Thai culture inspired elements into the celebration – on top of the decorations, gastronomic delights from MGM’s award-winning restaurants and lucky draws, MGM has especially invited Jennifer Kim, an acclaimed Thai artist who is also the judge of The Voice All Stars Thailand, to perform at the celebration dinner, bringing the most authentic, joyous Thai festivity with her singing and live comedy performances.
