MGM Culinary Team has garnered a total of nine accolades in the prestigious Hong Kong International Culinary Classic (HKICC) at HOFEX 2023 earlier this month. Not only has MGM outperformed its best records but has also become the best performing team among all participating Macau enterprises. This extraordinary achievement is a testament to MGM’s dedication to promoting the high-quality development of Macau’s tourism industry by nurturing diverse and top-notch talent, and more essentially, its contribution towards strengthening Macau’s legacy of “World’s Center of Tourism and Leisure”.
The Golden Lion team has obtained a Golden Bauhinia Cup award, as well as two Gold, two Silver and four Bronze in HKICC this year. Amongst strong competition from around the globe, Ningning Duan from MGM COTAI’s Dim Sum Production has not only scored a Gold award in Live Cooking – Dim Sum Platter under the category of Chinese Cuisine, but also a ‘Golden Bauhinia Cup’ in Chinese Cuisine – the most prestigious award in the competition that MGM has once again scored since 2019. At the same time, Helen Nguyen, Demi Chef from Mansion Kitchen of MGM COTAI also won a Gold in Hot Cooking – Professional: Vegan under the category of Western Cuisine.
Geoffrey Simmons, Vice President of Food and Beverage of MGM, applauded on the team’s achievements, “MGM is incredibly proud of our culinary team who has achieved greatness in this internationally acclaimed competition. We have outperformed our industry peers and obtained the highest award ‘Golden Bauhinia Cup’, which best demonstrates our endeavors in nurturing diverse talent for Macau. These remarkable results were only made possible with the talented and hardworking Golden Lion team members, who have undergone months of intensive trainings under the supervision of management team members and instructors. Empowered by our core values of originality and innovation, MGM will continue to deliver the best dining experience and help strengthening Macau’s position as a UNESCO-designated ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’.”
Endorsed by World Chefs – World Association of Chefs Societies and co-organised by the Hong Kong Chefs Associations (HKCA), HKICC aims at promoting culinary excellence, skills and abilities of chefs, cooks, pastry chefs and apprentices from near and far. The competition attracts up-and-coming professional chefs from all around Asia Pacific to compete and show off their culinary skills, and renowned professionals recognized by World Association of Chefs' Societies are also invited to be part of the judge panel.
