MEDIA RELEASES
The 70th Macau Grand Prix concluded amidst rousing cheers over the past two weekends. MGM’s stellar team sponsorship lineup has reaped an array of accolades this year – in the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix 55th Edition, Peter Hickman from FHO Racing BMW Motorrad has championed his fourth Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, while another MGM sponsored rider Davey Todd also won 1st runner-up in the race. The winners all together celebrated great victory at the city’s most important international sports event.
Ling Kang from China’s motorsports champion team Phantom Pro Racing, on the other hand, also achieved 1st runner-up in the GT3 class of the Greater Bay GT Cup. With MGM’s full backing, Phantom Pro Racing made its first debut at the 67th Macau Grand Prix. This once again marks the team’s glorious moments on the podium of Macau Grand Prix.
Embrace an Inclusive Society with Grand Prix Happenings
In addition to being a major sponsor of the 70th Macau Grand Prix and supporting a lineup of internationally renowned racers to compete in the races, MGM also rolled out various themed community events, in hope to engage different local community groups to enjoy this annual citywide sports event and to create an inclusive society.
On the first weekend of Grand Prix, MGM has hosted the “MGM Racing Fun Day” at the Macao Grand Prix Museum for 60 parents and children from the Federation of Trade Unions of Macau, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, and the Federation of Women's Associations of Macau. Participants got to experience the charm of Macau Grand Prix, where they had fun in the racing simulation games and multi-media installations inside the museum. What is more, the top racers from FHO Racing, including Michael Rutter, Peter Hickman and Josh Brookes were invited to meet and interact with the participants, which has created an exciting buzz among the crowd of little racing fans.
On the other hand, MGM once again invited artists with intellectual disabilities to design bikes, leathers and helmets for the MGM-sponsored riders in the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, showcasing these artists’ talent at such world-class sports event. Prior to the race, the artists, namely Ip Chi Kin, Chan Ka Ian, Ng Ting Gei and Sin Kei Cheong, accompanied by Macau Fuhong Society and management team members of MGM, met with the two racers, Davey Todd and Sam West, who were getting ready to race on the Guia Circuit with the leathers and helmets designed by them. During the race weekend, MGM also invited a group of individuals with disabilities to watch the race and meet with the racers at the paddock.
Earlier, MGM and the team of Davey Todd and Sam West organized a Grand Prix themed art workshop at the Macau Anglican College (MAC). 40 members of Macau IC2 Association, as well as teachers and students of MAC were invited to unleash their creativities and embrace inclusiveness within the community.
