Carrying on its philanthropic tradition of community care, MGM donated MOP300,000 to the Macau Holy House of Mercy (SCMM)’s Welfare Shop project for the 12th consecutive year — in a bid to fund the distribution of food hampers to nearly 400 local households in need. To date, MGM has donated an aggregate of MOP3.6 million to the project.
On April 6, MGM’s management team members, including Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, together with the Golden Lion Volunteer Team, visited the SCMM’s Welfare Shop, where they were warmly welcomed by António José de Freitas, President of the Board of Trustees of SCMM. Wendy Yu presented the donation cheque worth MOP300,000 to António José de Freitas, with the presence of the representatives of beneficiary organizations, including José Ricardo das Neves, President of the Supervisor Committee of SCMM; Manuel Gonçalves Pires Júnior, Member of the Board of Trustees of SCMM; Gisela Nunes, Secretary General of SCMM; Ng Sio Lai, President of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM); and Leong Pou U, Vice President of Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM).
MGM has specially designed a portable and reusable handcart for the food hamper distribution, making it convenient for beneficiaries to transport daily necessities. Each food hamper contains daily necessities such as rice, noodles, canned food, oatmeal, cooking oil, etc. — packed by MGM’s management team members and over 30 Golden Lion volunteers. The food hampers will be delivered to local families in need, as referred by FAOM, UGAMM, SCMM, and the Associação dos Familiares Encarregados dos Deficientes Mentais de Macau.
Having embraced its corporate social responsibility vision to “Create a Better Tomorrow Today”, MGM has been supporting the Welfare Shop project since its launch in 2013. Through the tradition of sending warmth, MGM has endeavored to help families ease their financial burdens, spreading love into the local community.
