Attracting International Tourists and Deepening Sino-Thai Relations
Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourism Office; Sam Lei, Executive Director of Macao Trade & Investment Promotion Institute and other guests attended the “Amazing Songkran in Macau” dinner.

MGM is dedicated to bolstering the Macao SAR Government’s endeavor to draw greater flows of international visitors to Macau by organizing various entertainment performances, sports events, and cultural and arts activities. On April 13, MGM organized the “Amazing Songkran in Macau” dinner and invited over 220 discerning guests from Thailand to MGM COTAI to celebrate the traditional Thai New Year ― the Songkran Festival, fostering cultural exchange between China and Thailand.

Since 2019, MGM has been celebrating the Songkran Festival with Thai guests in Macau. This year, the “Amazing Songkran in Macau” dinner, held at the Vista of MGM COTAI, surpassed the scale of previous years. Distinguished guests included Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Sam Lei, Executive Director of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; Tian Han, Executive Vice President of Gaming Operations & Strategic Marketing of MGM; Frederica Fok, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing of MGM; Justin Lu, Vice President of Regional Marketing of MGM; and other guests.

Frederica Fok said during her speech at the dinner, “MGM’s invitation to Thai tourists on the celebration of Songkran Festival in Macau is part of our strategic plan to tap into the Thai market and strengthen friendships between Macau and Thailand. In June, we are going to join hands with the Macao Government Tourism Office in the upcoming roadshow held in Bangkok and we will also launch a series of promotion activities in Thailand. Please stay tuned and remember to support us!”

The celebration featured traditional Thai boat noodles and a unique blend of Sino-Thai fusion dishes, all thoughtfully prepared by MGM, as well as a lucky draw session. The atmosphere was enhanced by festive Thai decorations that filled the dining hall with a vibe of anticipation and excitement. Moreover, MGM has invited Thai R&B singer Lydia Sarunrat Deane to perform at the celebration, with the evening hosted by Thai actor Matthew Deane, adding an authentic and warm Thai festive atmosphere to the dinner.
