“The 10th MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class” Recruitment Opens May 23
Promoting Chinese Lion Dance Traditions Bolstering Cultural Confidence in Children
MGM has been organizing the “MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class” for 10 consecutive years.

With a commitment to promoting and preserving traditional Chinese culture, MGM has been organizing the “MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class” for 10 consecutive years. This year, the seven-week training program opens for enrollment from May 23 to June 2, inviting children in Macau to make use of their summer break to equip themselves with lion dance training – as a great opportunity to strengthen their physical fitness, team spirit as well as cultural confidence.

“The 10th MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class” is jointly organized by MGM and the Mak Chi Leong Dragon & Lion Dance Sports Association; and supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Macau Government Tourism Office, and the Wushu General Association of Macau. Since its inception in 2015, the program has trained over 540 young lion dancers. During the seven-week training, participants will learn about the history of the lion dance, its basic movements, and how to use various props and musical instruments to complement the dance. Young lion dancers who complete the program will showcase their talents at a graduation ceremony. Those who demonstrate outstanding performance will have the chance to enroll in the “MGM Lion Dance Training Program”, an initiative that provides advanced training to further enhance their lion dance techniques and prepare them for future competitions and professional opportunities in the field.

The program is open to children aged five to eight. Those interested can fill out the application form on MGM’s official website by June 2 and submit a copy of a valid ID card and a medical examination report of the applicant. If applications exceed the enrollment quota, participants will be selected by computer-generated lottery. MGM will notify successful applicants via email on June 6, and training will officially begin on July 7. For inquiries, please call (853) 8802 3833 or email liondance@mgm.mo.
