MGM is committed to promoting traditional Chinese culture to the world through a variety of innovative arts and cultural projects. In 2024, the year of “two celebrations” (75th anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and 25th anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao S.A.R.), MGM takes the noble and righteous “Jianghu” as theme, and draws from the rousing spirit of chivalry and courage of lions and classic heroes — to present internationally renowned Chinese sculptor Ren Zhe’s first-ever solo exhibition in Macau, “MGM X Ren Zhe – ‘Legends of Chivalry’ Selling Exhibition”. The exhibition invites all discerning art collectors and aficionados to attend this Jianghu gathering where heroism abounds for all, and offers a remarkable chance to acquire these limited and priceless art pieces into collection.
The “MGM X Ren Zhe – ‘Legends of Chivalry’ Selling Exhibition” presents approximately 20 sculptures, including the highly acclaimed and world’s first officially authorised sculptures of classic characters from Jin Yong’s martial arts novels, sculptures from Ren’s own “Warriors” series and more; adding to the sculpture is the exclusive feature of Ren’s sketches, which are an extension of his sculptural works. The “MGM X Ren Zhe – ‘Legends of Chivalry’ Selling Exhibition” showcases distinctive and storied pieces from the various bodies of work by the artist, portraying the vast Jianghu world through Ren’s signature contemporary sculptural storytelling. The exhibit will promote the timeless legend of Jin Yong’s legendary heroes throughout Macau and the Greater Bay Area, diversifying MGM’s cultural tourism offerings with this curated spectacle. MGM is also the first in the world to present Ren’s neo-Chinese home decor and apparel merchandise, reinterpreting traditional Chinese cultural elements using contemporary exquisite craftsmanship, infusing the beauty of artistry into everyday life.
Creating resonance with the “MGM X Ren Zhe – ‘Legends of Chivalry’ Selling Exhibition”, MGM concurrently presents the “Jin Yong Wuxia Drama Costumes & Weapons Exhibition” in Barra. These vibrant exhibitions connect MGM’s events venue to Barra district under the unifying theme of “Jianghu heroes”.

About Ren Zhe
Born in 1983, Ren Zhe graduated from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University and is renowned for combining traditional Chinese culture with contemporary Western technique in his works of art. His art-making ethos is to “channel a formidable external presence by unleashing the momentum of impetuous energy, etch an outward image based on intrinsic character, and embody the essential ethos by building up from within”. In 2019, his “Qi — Ren Zhe Sculpture Exhibition” at Beijing’s Imperial Ancestral Temple caused a sensation in the art world, being also the first contemporary artist to be exhibited at that historic venue. His sculptural works are highly sought after in the art auction market and have repeatedly set records for bidding prices. This exhibit features several of Ren’s works for the very first time.
