Artistic Swimming Elite Extravaganza & Macao Open Artistic Swimming Competition 2024” – jointly organized by MGM and Associação Geral de Natação de Macau, together with the support of the Sports Bureau – will be grandly held from June 21 to 23. This year, the Nation’s three renowned teams with numerous world-class accolades, namely the Beijing Artistic Swimming Team, the Jiangsu Artistic Swimming Team and the Sichuan Artistic Swimming Team, will present an exhilarating “water ballet” performance to enhance the glamour of sports events in the city.
Today (June 20), MGM hosted a welcome luncheon at MGM COTAI for the three elite teams and presented them with souvenirs, extending great gratitude and best wishes for a successful performance. The luncheon was attended by a line-up of guests including Debby Fu, Director of Athlete Training and Development Centre of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Lai Pak Leng, President of Associação Geral de Natação de Macau; management members of MGM; and guests from local sports sector. Kenneth Feng delivered a speech and said: “Artistic swimming perfectly merges the essence of sports and arts, aligning with MGM's principle of uniting the world through arts. This mega event not only enriches the ‘tourism+’ experiences in Macau, but also attracts more people to visit the city as a tourist destination. It is also intended to help elevate public enthusiasm for sports. Moving ahead, we are endeavoring to introduce diverse ‘tourism+sports’ initiatives, such as regatta, lion dance, yoga, tennis and more, further enriching Macau’s position as the ‘City of Sports’.”
MGM is delighted to have collaborated with Associação Geral de Natação de Macau to incorporate the “Artistic Swimming Elite Extravaganza” into the established “Macao Open Artistic Swimming Competition”. This becomes a mega sports event with a greater attractiveness and influence, that has been recognized by residents and tourists. This year’s open competition brings together 17 teams with nearly 200 young athletes, who come from Beijing, Tianjin, Sichuan, Chongqing, Chinese Taipei, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau. The line-up represents a significant increase of 40% in the number of teams from outside the Greater Bay Area, compared to last year. MGM also seizes the opportunity of these renowned artistic swimming teams’ presence and will organize the “Artistic Swimming Master Class” in a bid to help the young competing athletes advance their skills directly from the national level professionals.
