With the aim to enrich Macau’s talent pool and empower its high-quality development, MGM has partnered with various educational organizations in Macau, to establish a platform promoting its team members’ diversified development. Since 2016, the Company launched the “MGM High School Diploma Program” (Program), which has attracted more than 300 team members at various stages of their studies, with a total of 133 high school diplomas awarded to date. Recently, the “Celebration of MGM Continuing Education Journey” (Celebration), co-organized by MGM, Escola Seong Fan da Associação Comercial de Macau and Macau Institute of Management (MIM), and supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), was held at the MGM MACAU.
The Celebration commends the achievements of the new batch of graduates, and appreciates the Escola Seong Fan da Associação Comercial de Macau for providing tailor-made courses in this Program. In addition, MGM signed a memorandum of understanding - “Diversified Development Program of Talent Management and Cultivation” – with MIM, unveiling an in-house four-year bachelor’s degree program. This partnership paths MGM team members to continue their university study upon completion of high school program, and makes MGM the first integrated resort operator to run an in-house bachelor’s degree program with local educational institutions, offering further learning opportunities for its team members.
Wong Ka Ki, Deputy Director of DSEDJ of Macao SAR, delivered a speech and said, “As DSEDJ actively promotes the concept of lifelong learning and encourages residents to continue their studies, we have close cooperation with MGM in various educational aspects for many years. Thanks to MGM’s support and dedication to Macau’s education sector, as well as the efforts of MIM and Escola Seong Fan da Associação Comercial de Macau, MGM’s team members are able to access in-house tertiary and high school education. It showcases Macau’s flexible and diversified educational characteristics through the synergy of government, enterprises and educational organizations, meanwhile allowing working people to continue learning and pursuing their dreams.”
As one of the thirty graduates of this year of the Program, Eva Che, from the Table Games Department of MGM, said, “Reflecting on the learning journey in this program, I am filled with gratification. My studies coincided with my pregnancy, and I had to balance between caring for my newborn baby, attending courses, and working. Despite these challenges, I was grateful for the full support from MGM such as offering a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the courses. It empowered me to fulfill my personal, academic, and professional commitments. We appreciate MGM for providing opportunities and resources on our continuing learning, so that I am able to complete high school education, laying a solid foundation for my start as an undergraduate for MIM bachelor program in the near future. This experience not only broadens my horizons, fulfills my childhood dream but also inspires future possibilities in my career and growth.”
The Celebration was attended by a line-up of guests, including Wong Ka Ki, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) of Macao SAR; Cheng Qiyin, Division Chief of the Education and Youth Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ma Chi Ngai, President of the Macao Chamber of Commerce; Cheang Hong Kuong, Principal of Escola Seong Fan Da Associacao Comercial De Macau; Lei Sut Chong, Vice-Principal of Escola Seong Fan Da Associacao Comercial De Macau; Alex Mok, President of Board of Directors of MIM; Cheang Kin Lap Keegan, Vice-President of Board of Directors of MIM; Jodie Lam, Secretary General of the Macau Management Association; Sam Io Cheong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Educators Association of Macau; Hubert Wang, President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited; Tian Han, Executive Vice President of Gaming Operations & Strategic Marketing of MGM; Francis Tan, Vice President of Learning and Talent Management of MGM, celebrating the shining moments of MGM’s team members.
