MGM Organizes “The MGM Experience” for 13 Consecutive Years
A total of 200 students from 27 schools joined "The MGM Experience" this year.

As a company rooted in Macau, MGM has been committed to youth development in the city. For the 13th consecutive year, MGM hosted its annual summer program "The MGM Experience", attracting 200 students from 27 schools this year, marking the highest participation to date. Through this program, MGM aims to provide local youth with a productive and enriching summer with hands-on work experience at an integrated resort. This program also enables them to broaden their horizons, explore various career paths, and engage in volunteer activities with MGM’s Golden Lion team members, instilling the value of giving back to the community in the participants from an early age.

"The MGM Experience" was first launched in 2011. Led by experienced Golden Lion team members, the students spent two days getting exposure in various departments, including areas such as food and beverage, front desk, bell service, wardrobe & linen, floral, facilities management, resort technology, warehouse, and human resources. This year's participants, aged 13 to 17, were referred by the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Macao Catholic Schools Association, or the Chinese Educators Association of Macau, while some of them have joined the “Macau Outstanding Teenagers Award” or family members of MGM’s employees.

At the sharing session and certificate presentation ceremony, four of the teenagers shared their experiences and insights from the program. MGM also invited Alvina Cheong, a winner of the “Macau Outstanding Teenagers Award”, to encourage the participants at the event by presenting her journey of overcoming challenges and contributing to society.

Extending its caring culture to the community, MGM arranged the teenagers to join various community activities with the MGM Volunteer Team. They visited the Ngai Chun Service Complex of Macau Special Olympics and the Fuhong Society of Macau, where they engaged in inclusive workshops. The students also visited elderly centers run by Caritas Macau, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, and the Women’s General Association of Macau, offering assistance and care to the elderly. By facilitating interaction between the participants of the program and people from different backgrounds, MGM aims to promote social inclusion and diversity in Macau.

Chris Sam, a student at Yuet Wah College, said: "I was assigned to the Facilities Management department. My mentor took me on a tour of several large technical rooms, and I was amazed at how extensive the work is for just one department. During these two days, I also learned that an integrated resort is composed of so many departments with highly professional teams working together and communicating closely to get things done."

After the event, the participants received their certificates and souvenirs in the presence of the guests, including Cheong Man Fai, Head of the Department of Youth of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Chow Pak Fai, President of Macao Catholic Schools Association; Vong Piu, Chairperson of the Macao Catholic Schools Association; Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Iwan Dietschi, Senior Vice President of Hospitality of MGM, and some MGM department heads and school representatives.
