MGM Co-organizes “New Greater Bay Area Youth Exchange Program”
Broadening Young Minds’ Horizons and Inspiring Them to Shape the Greater Bay Area
MGM co-organizes the “New Greater Bay Area Youth Exchange Program”.

MGM joined hands with the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the Macau Youth Development Service Center to organize the “New Greater Bay Area Youth Exchange Program" in Hengqin on August 14 and 15. The program aimed to support Macau’s economic diversification, nurture talent, as well as attract the youth to participate in regional cooperation. Throughout the two-day exchange trip, the participants acquired a profound understanding of the industrial, infrastructural, and cultural developments in Hengqin, which inspired them to contribute to the future growth of the Cooperation Zone.

The event began with an opening ceremony and luncheon at Hengqin Sumlodol Camping Town with over 80 youth from Macau. Distinguished guests who attended the event include Zhou Quan, Deputy Head of the Youth Office of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Pedro Pan, Acting Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Sports Development of the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Cooperation Zone; Benjamin Hong, Executive Director of Learning & Talent Development of MGM; and Stephen Wong, Vice Director of the Macau Youth Development Service Centre. In the evening, the participants gathered for a campfire with guest speakers including David Cheang Iek Wai, Executive Director of Zhuhai Aha Youth Incubator Co. Ltd; Lei Wai Kit, Founder of Sem Sorriso Culture and Creative Co. Ltd; and Ng Hong Kei, Executive Director of BoardWare Intelligence Technology. At the campfire, these outstanding youth entrepreneurs shared valuable insights about starting a business in Hengqin and encouraged youth to seize the opportunities in the Cooperation Zone.

Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, remarked that the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is a significant national strategy, and the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin provides a great platform for Macau’s youth. MGM has been nurturing local talents through various initiatives, and this exchange program enables the local youth to gain insights into current state and future prospects of the Cooperation Zone. She believed this exchange program could broaden the youths’ horizons, help them seize the development opportunities in the GBA, and facilitate their integration into the national development.

Stephen Wong, Vice Director of the Macau Youth Development Service Centre, said this event would enable Macau’s youth to gain practical experience on Hengqin's development and discover business opportunities in the GBA. Wong encouraged participants to embrace the opportunity and better equip themselves. He also advised them to expand their potential to contribute to the GBA’s development. According to Wong, the center is committed to fostering the all-round growth of young people by actively creating platforms to help young people to engage in the broader development of GBA.

During these two days, the group visited the exhibition hall of the underground comprehensive utility tunnel, the exhibition hall which showcases the development of Hongbin, the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex, Authenmole (Zhuhai Hengqin) Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Industry Development Co. Ltd, and Zhuhai Nanometals Technology. These on-site visits gave the participants a deeper understanding of Hengqin's strategic role in the Cooperation Zone and its future development plans, especially the Macao-Hengqin “1+4” industry strategy. In addition, the group attended a sharing session on Hengqin's youth entrepreneurship policies at the Zhuhai Sanyi South Headquarters Building. In the afternoon, the participants work together to craft a lotus pond artwork and presented it to Li Yi, Acting Head of the Department of Culture and Sports Development of the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Cooperation Zone, as a token of appreciation for the bureau’s support of this exchange program.
