Following the new landscape of integrated tourism and leisure industry development, MGM is actively providing growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Leveraging its strengths in helping SME to expand their business, MGM is hosting its 12th business matching session with the participation of nearly 100 SMEs. Besides seeking cooperation with SMEs based on MGM’s business needs, this year’s business matching session will also focus on young entrepreneurs, Halal food suppliers and companies under the “Technology Company Certification Program” held by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), aspiring to further support Macau’s technological advancement.
The “MGM SME Business Matching Session 2024” was held today at MGM MACAU, which was co-organized by MGM, the Macao Chamber of Commerce (ACM) and the Industrial Association of Macau (AIM), and supported by DSEDT, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM), the Macau Union Suppliers Association and the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC). Officiating guests of the event included Sun Yaohua, Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Chan Tze Wai, Deputy Director of DSEDT; Vincent U, President of IPIM; Choi Tat Meng, Vice-President of ACM; Chui Yuk Lum, President of AIM; Victoria Kuan, Director-General of CPTTM; Ip Sio Man, President of Macao Union Suppliers Association; Andy Ng, Director of MYEIC and Hubert Wang, President & Chief Operating Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited.
Hubert Wang, President & Chief Operating Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the Macao SAR, we also welcome the 10th anniversary of MGM’s collaboration with ACM on jointly organizing this SME business matching session. Since the first session we held 10 years ago, our SME procurement amount has tripled. Over the past decade, MGM has been continuously innovating and introducing effective programs with different long-term partners, with the objective to grow with our SME together.”
Choi Tat Meng, Vice-President of ACM, said, “As a long-term partner of ACM, MGM has been consistently contributing to support the development of SMEs in various manners. This year, MGM co-organized the ‘MGM SME Program 2024: Seizing Business Opportunities in Cooperation Zone’ in Hengqin with our Guangdong office, not only to help Macau SMEs to grasp the opportunities of Hengqin, but also to drive the in-depth economic integration between Macau and Hengqin.”
Chui Yuk Lum, President of AIM, said, “We are grateful for MGM’s great support, as it regularly sends personnel to visit potential enterprises with us to promote ‘M-Mark’ certification. AIM and MGM carry on our partnership this year, and jointly launched the ‘MGM Macau Premium Product Promotion Program 2024 - Shop Macau Fun Macau! Campaign’, with the aim to further boost ‘Made in Macau’, ‘M-Mark’ product, ‘Macau Halal Food’, ‘Macau Brand’ and ‘Macau Creativity’. This initiative allows more locals and tourists to raise their awareness of Macau products, while increasing the exposure of SMEs’ products.”
In a bid to promote the “M-Mark” certification, MGM inked a MOP 2 million procurement agreement for MGM-selected coffee beans with Chip Seng Coffee Ltd. As a local coffee brand deeply rooted in Macau for 80 years, Chip Seng Coffee offers a variety of coffee beans from different origins and flavors for customers to select and blend. This special coffee blend under the cooperation of MGM and Chip Seng will also apply for the “M-Mark” certification soon.
On the other hand, MGM also signed a MOP 1 million procurement agreement of MGM jackets with Ankaikong and Fu Son Garment Factory Limited. Both designed and made in Macau, these MGM jackets will also become MGM’s brand-new “M-Mark” product in the future. Earlier, MGM teamed up with CPTTM to organize the “MGM Food Hygiene and Safety Management Course” to raise the standard of SME’s food safety management and the students were awarded with HACCP certification at the business matching session.
In 2024, MGM has made fruitful achievements in supporting local SMEs. The Company joined forces with AIM and BOC Macau to roll out the “MGM Macau Premium Product Promotion Program 2024 - Shop Macau Fun Macau! Campaign” with 12,000 MinMPlaza MOP25 e-coupons distributed via the BOC Macau App. The Company and the Industry and Commerce Association of Macau (ICAMO) set up the “2024 Macau Premium Product Center” in Guangzhou this September, bringing nearly 200 Macau products from 29 local companies to tap into the Guangzhou market. In October, MGM collaborated with AIM to hold a promotional campaign in Hong Kong, which showcased 80 products of 10 Made-in-Macau brands in 5 supermarkets of City Super Group.
MGM also pioneered in extending its support of SMEs to Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, with the "MGM SME Program 2024: Seizing Business Opportunities in Cooperation Zone” in collaboration with the Guangdong Office of the Macao Chamber of Commerce. Under this program, MGM held an introductory session to MGM’s procurement needs and a “SMEs Cooperation Zone Site Visit” to help local SMEs to expand their reach in the Cooperation Zone, further driving the integration of Macau and Hengqin.
