By uniting various sectors with cross-border concepts of “contemporary, trendy, artistic, and lifestyle”, MGM has fully engaged in revitalizing Barra District into a trendy lifestyle destination, while bringing openness and inclusiveness to the district. As Barra’s creative vitality continues to attract more partnership from home and abroad, renowned Singaporen artist Jackson Tan, has brought his giant inflatable installations “Art-Zoo Splashes of Joy” World of Wonders to Barra, with the theme of marine environmental protection. MGM also organizes environmental-friendly workshops and adds retail elements as the extension of “Art-Zoo”, in order to increase public awareness on the subject. All happenings are aimed to not only offer more parent-child recreational experience to meet their diversified needs, but also showcase international recognition of Barra’s revitalization efforts.
The opening ceremony of “Art-Zoo Splashes of Joy” World of Wonders was held earlier, with a strong line-up of officiating guests, including Ricky Hoi, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourism Office; Choi Kin Long, Acting Deputy Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR; Vong Kit Han, Acting Director of the Maritime Museum of the Marine and Water Bureau of Macao SAR; Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Catarina Lio, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing of MGM and Jackson Tan, creator of Art-Zoo.
Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “MGM is grateful for the support from all walks of life, which enables Barra District to reconnect with the public in just over a year and become a leisure gathering spot for everyone. As the year draws to a close, we are excited to bring the internationally renowned inflatable playground Art-Zoo to Barra. This new installation perfectly immerses into Barra’s creative atmosphere while serving as an advanced entertaining destination for families. Along with Barra’s other activities, we hope to meet the needs of all ages, in a bid to make Barra a more inclusive, warm and youthful community, where everyone can enjoy wonderful moments.”
Jackson Tan, creator of Art-Zoo, said, “It’s my honor to join hands with MGM and bring Art-Zoo to Macau for the very first time, and to Barra District – a unique space that is brimming with profound history and modern vitality. Besides, Barra’s maritime heritage also has strong connections with Art-Zoo’s theme of ocean. I believe in Barra’s artistic vibe and the power of this community, which will surely allow my art to be closer with both locals and visitors. I invite you all to come to Barra District and interact with our colorful installation, exploring the joy and endless possibilities of art.”
Themed on marine environmental protection, the inflatable playground of “Art-Zoo Splashes of Joy” World of Wonders located at Barra District – Dock Area, is a giant inflatable installation with a length of 27 meters and a width of 6 meters. It brings audiences into a colorful ocean world full of fantasy via three themed zones - Sunlit Zone, Twilight Zone and Midnight Zone - whose design is inspired by ocean creatures, allowing children to jump freely in the “ocean”. Another eye-catching photo-spot is the inflatable Bruno Bear at Barra Pond, dressing up like a diver to draw public attention. In addition, an inflatable Submarine is also setup at Barra District – Dock Area to showcase environmental-friendly videos, with the aim to deepen participants’ knowledge in the same field.
Moreover, MGM rolls out an array of extended activities to underline marine environmental protection. Two kinds of workshops will be held on weekends and public holidays from December to February, which allows adults and children to jointly handmade colorful gifts such as small flowerpots and reusable bags. In addition, MGM invites environmentally friendly SMEs to station at Barra to promote their products while encouraging Naked Shopping.
As this year marks the dual celebration and MGM’s 17th anniversary, MGM has specially invited more than 400 guests, namely Barra’s cooperative partners, as well as guests from different local associations and organisations to enjoy a Poon Choi Banquet on the same day, appreciating their great support for Barra. Barra Kitchen’s eight local F&B outlets also helped prepare “Eight Appetizers Platter” with their signature dishes for this banquet, wishing a healthy and prosperous new year ahead to all.
