MGM Co-organizes “Greater Bay Area’s ‘1+4’ Diversified Industries Exploration Tour”
Empowering Youth to Explore Diverse Industry Opportunities and Traditional Chinese Culture

MGM co-organized the “Greater Bay Area ‘1+4’ Diversified Industries Exploration Tour” with the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the Macau Youth Development Service Centre from January 15 to 17. The event was the second phase of the “New Greater Bay Area Youth Exchange Program” which has been running since last year. The tour focused on the industries such as big health; modern financial services; high and new technology; and convention and exhibition, sports, and the commercial and trade industries. It attracted over 50 local youths to participate. Through on-site visits and exchanges, this event aims to inspire the youths to learn about the latest developments in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, empowering them to actively contribute to the future growth and development of the GBA.

Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, shared that  MGM's commitment is to nurture versatile talent with a global perspective that support Macau’s economic diversification strategy. Starting the program’s first phase in the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, to this second phase in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, MGM aims to inspire local youth to get in sync with the national development strategies and familiarize them with the significant opportunities brought by the development of the GBA and Cooperation Zone. This tour also seeks to inspire participants to help drive Macau’s industrial transformation advancement and economic diversification, thus contribute to the high-quality development of the GBA in the future.

Throughout the three-day exchange trip, the participants visited Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain Chenliji Pharmaceutical Factory Co. Ltd., Chenliji Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Park, and Chenliji Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, where they gained insights into the rich heritage and innovative advancement of traditional Chinese medicine. The group also visited the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and learned about Shenzhen's role as an innovative and open financial center.

For getting better understanding of the high-tech development in the GBA, the delegation also visited the Rofo Group, Shenzhen Das Intellitech Co. Ltd., Shenzhen Industrial Exhibition Hall, and ByteDance Ltd. (Douyin), in which they have an up-close look at the application of technology in urban development, industrial upgrades, and how new media platforms can be used to promote local culture, enabling participants to gain a better understanding on the innovation and entrepreneurship in the era of the digital economy.

To deepen participants’ understanding of culture and sports, the group explored Lingnan culture and historical heritage in Guangdong Museum. For fostering team spirit, they also took part in team-building activities at the museum. The youths then toured in MGM Shenzhen, where hotel representatives shared their best practices with the group in talent development, talent recruitment and customer relationship management.

The “Greater Bay Area’s ‘1+4’ Diversified Industries Exploration Tour” empowered local youths to better understand the industrial structures and trends of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and encouraged them to actively participate in the development of the GBA. Looking ahead, more youths from Macau are expected to showcase their talents in the cross-regional cooperation, contributing to a new chapter in the development of the GBA.
