[April 29, 2025] MGM has long been actively supporting the Macao SAR Government’s policy of promoting adequate economic diversification and advancing the integration between Macau and Hengqin. Recently, the Company co-organized the “Hengqin Cooperation Zone ‘1+4’ Diversified Industries Exploration Tour” in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin in collaboration with the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Social Affairs Bureau of the Work Office of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, and the Party-building Division of the Work Office of the Cooperation Zone.
The event has received staunch support from the Working Committee of the Communist Youth League of China of the Cooperation Zone and Hengqin New Home. The tour offered MGM team members an opportunity to engage in site visits and exchanges, enabling them to gain deeper insights into the planning and development blueprint of the Cooperation Zone, as well as the development opportunities of enterprises in the “1+4” diversified industries.
The tour was held across eight sessions from March to April, attracting over 300 MGM leadership members and other employees. Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM; Chan Tze Wai, Deputy Director of the Labour Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR; Cheung Wai, Head of the Vocational Training Department of the bureau; and Wong Vai Ian, Head of Skills Training Division of the bureau, have joined one of the sessions with MGM team members. They were warmly received by Nie Xinping, Deputy Secretary of the Hengqin Working Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Director of the Hengqin Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Cooperation Zone; Zhang Ge, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Cooperation Zone; Tong Tieding, Director of Party-building Division of the Work Office of the Cooperation Zone of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province; and Elaine Leong, a Macau councilor of the Hengqin New Home of the Co-operation Zone.
Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said, “MGM has always been committed to creating diverse learning platforms for its team members, and this exploration tour is a key component of the Company’s talent development strategy. By experiencing the pulse of development in the Cooperation Zone, our team can broaden their horizons across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), understand the nation’s overarching development direction, and thus grasp the opportunities in the GBA . MGM will continue to work closely with the governments and partners in Macao and Hengqin to promote cross-regional talent exchanges and contribute to Macao-Hengqin integration, jointly forging a promising future for the coordinated development of the two places.”
MGM specially arranged for team members to travel via Light Rail Transit between MGM COTAI and Hengqin Port, offering them a firsthand experience of how this efficient means of transport facilitates integration between the two places and boosts connectivity in the GBA.
The tour focused on the four key emerging industries in Hengqin. During the visit, MGM team members toured the “Hengqin-Macao in Harmony” exhibition held at the “Music on the TM River” exhibition hall, where they gained a comprehensive understanding of the Cooperation Zone’s development journey and achievements. They also visited the special exhibition of cultural relics, “Treasures of Ancient Shu—Sanxingdui and Jinsha”, to explore the richness of ancient Chinese civilization. In addition, participants visited well-known cross-border e-commerce enterprises to understand the development and trade models of the sector in Hengqin. They also visited the Hengqin Pien Tze Huang Museum to learn about the industrialization and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.
