During the reading sharing session, Ho Sut Heng, President of the FAOM, emphasized that reading is not only a key pathway to broadening one's horizons, but also essential in enhancing holistic and practical skills. She encouraged MGM team members to become well-rounded “craftsmen” by putting theory into practice and to further develop their professional skills. Ho also noted that the FAOM will continue to collaborate with MGM and all sectors of society to foster an ideal reading environment, guiding employees enhance their capabilities and better prepare for future development.

Distinguished guests who attended the event included: Huang Huagai, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Department of Social Affairs at the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM; Francis Tan, Vice President of Learning & Talent Management of MGM; Benjamin Hong, Executive Director of Learning & Talent Development of MGM;  Tang Mei Lin, Acting Head of the Public Libraries Management Department of the IC. Representatives of the FAOM were Ho Sut Heng, President; Choi Kam Fu, Vice Director-General; Lam Cheong U, Deputy Secretary-General; and Fong Cho Hou, Head Librarian of the Worker Bookhouse.

Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said: “Reading is the cornerstone of lifelong learning and a medium for the transmission of culture. Through collaboration with the government, associations, and higher education institutions, MGM has long been committed to expanding learning resources for its team members, in a bid to encourage them to broaden their knowledge and enhance competitiveness. Moving forward, MGM will proactively support the Macao SAR Government in the promotion of reading culture, contributing to Macau’s vision of becoming a 'City of Reading'."

Since 2018, MGM has been partnering with Macao Public Library to organize reading promotional roadshows. With the support of the IC and FAOM, MGM hosted its first World Book Day-themed event last year. As part of the initiative, MGM established the “Golden Lion Reading Corner” in the back-of-house area of the Company, making it convenient for team members to borrow books. Additionally, MGM was designated a “Reading Point” for the IC’s “Reading in the City” event, further fostering a culture of reading among its team members.
