[MACAU, May 19, 2025] POLY MGM MUSEUM’s inaugural exhibition, “The Maritime Silk Road – Discover the mystical seas and encounter the treasures of the ancient trade route”, has been honoured with the International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Cooperation Award at the 22nd (2024) “Top Ten Museum Exhibitions” in China. This prestigious recognition highlights the museum’s role as a bridgehead for Chinese culture’s global outreach, reinforcing Macau’s position as a hub for international exchange and cross-cultural collaboration, where Chinese culture stays central while embracing coexistence with diverse traditions.
The “Top Ten Museum Exhibitions” award represents the highest distinction in China’s museum exhibition sector. Guided by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and organized by the Chinese Museums Association and China Cultural Relics Newspaper, this annual selection aims to elevate exhibition standard and public service level. The 2024 selection process reviewed 161 submissions, with 46 exhibitions advancing to the final round. Ultimately, 10 exhibitions received the Excellence Award, 6 exhibitions were recognized for International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Cooperation Award (3 outbound exhibitions, 3 inbound exhibitions), 6 received Special Awards, 21 won Merit Awards, and 3 earned International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Cooperation Finalist Awards.
POLY MGM MUSEUM’s “The Maritime Silk Road – Discover the mystical seas and encounter the treasures of the ancient trade route” exhibition explores the deep historical ties between Macau and China through the maritime Silk Road. It also plays a pivotal role in fostering cultural exchange within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, contributing to its regional prosperity. The exhibition has garnered extensive media attention, with 862 reports featured across major Chinese outlets such as People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Media Group, and the official website of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. International media and social platforms, including Douyin and Weibo, have also widely covered the exhibition, generating over 890 million reach across various media channels. Additionally, total exposure on social media platforms has surpassed 3 billion views, with 1.78 million interactions recorded. Since its grand opening six months ago, POLY MGM MUSEUM has welcomed nearly 700,000 visitors, with attendance continuing to grow.
