MGM Promotes National Pride with Team Viewing of “Dead to Rights”
MGM organized the “Dead to Rights” film viewing for team members.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, MGM has actively supported the Macao SAR Government’s commemorative initiatives by organizing a series of meaningful activities. Following its earlier co-hosting of the exhibition “Portraits of WWII Resistance Heroes Exhibition”, MGM began hosting the team viewing of the patriotic film “Dead to Rights” for team members on August 13, aiming to deepen their sense of national identity and foster patriotism.

Set against the true historical backdrop of the 1937 Fall of Nanjing, “Dead to Rights” unfolds through the lens of ordinary citizens working at a local photo studio. The film chronicles their journey from survival to awakening amidst the chaos of war, as they courageously risk their lives to expose photographic evidence of atrocities committed by the Japanese military. Through its “grand history, small lens” narrative approach, the film powerfully depicts the crimes of aggression while celebrating the indomitable spirit of the Chinese people—echoing the theme of the 80th anniversary of victory.

Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said, “‘Dead to Rights’ is more than just a movie but a powerful retelling of our national history, capturing the resilience of the Chinese people in the face of adversity. Through this team viewing, we hope our team members gain a deeper appreciation for the hard-earned peace and stability we enjoy today, drawing strength from history and reinforcing their sense of national identity. We encourage them to embody responsibility and dedication in both their professional and personal lives. MGM has long been committed to promoting patriotic education and will continue to cultivate national pride among our team through diverse initiatives, contributing to long-term prosperity and stability of both Macao and the Nation.”

Team members who attended the screening were deeply moved. Janice Wong from Rooms shared, “The ordinary individuals in the film chose to stand up in the face of adversity. Their unwavering courage was truly inspiring, and their spirit of resistance was profoundly powerful. Watching this film felt like attending an impactful history lesson—it not only reminded us to cherish the present, embrace our social responsibilities, but also pass on the values of peace and perseverance from generation to generation.”
