To honor history, cherish peace, and promote patriotic spirit, MGM reaffirmed its commitment by leading a delegation of over 60 management members to visit the special exhibition “For National Liberation and World Peace - Exhibition of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War” (the “Exhibition”) today. The visit was led by Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, and Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM.
Organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, with support from the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Exhibition runs from August 25 to September 24 at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Macao. MGM has also arranged 10 additional dedicated viewing sessions for team members to deepen their understanding of this pivotal chapter in Chinese history.
The Exhibition is comprised of six thematic sections, featuring a rich collection of precious historical images and videos charting China’s 14-year resistance from 1931 to 1945. It conveys the core message of “remembering history, honoring martyrs, cherishing peace, and shaping a better future”, while spotlighting the heroic spirit of the Chinese people and the enduring significance of their victory. The Exhibition also illustrates how Macau society supported the national cause through fundraising, public awareness campaigns, refugee aid, and frontline participation - demonstrating the deep bond between Macau and the nation.
Following the visit, Kenneth Feng remarked, “History serves as the mirror to understand the rise and fall of nations. This exhibition not only brings us face to face with the resilience of the Chinese people but also illuminates the moral responsibility and collective memory of Macau’s community during times of national crisis. Living in an era of peace, we must reinterpret the indomitable spirit of our predecessors and incorporate it into MGM’s corporate culture - nurturing a team with a strong sense of patriotism and responsibility at its core. Through ongoing initiatives like this, we hope to provide our team with a platform to engage with history and uphold patriotic values into their daily work.”
Icy Lam, Director of Financial Accounting of MGM, also shared her reflections: “Having watched the patriotic film ‘Dead to Rights’ and now this exhibition, I am reminded that peace is never guaranteed – it was earned through countless sacrifices. These photos and videos are more than historical records; they are powerful reminders that peace must be safeguarded, and memory must be passed on. I will carry this awareness back to my work, cherishing the present and moving forward with a greater sense of purpose and courage – so as not to take today’s peace for granted.”
To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, MGM has actively responded to the SAR government’s call by organizing a series of commemorative events, including team viewings of patriotic film “Dead to Rights” and co-hosted the “Portraits of WWII Resistance Heroes Exhibition”, aiming to inspire team members with the enduring spirit of resilience and patriotism.
