Discovering Quality Macau Brands for "city'super 2025 Macau Festival”
MGM and AIM partner with city’super to host SME product selection event

[Sep 5, 2025, Macau] To support Macau SMEs in expanding their market reach, the Industrial Association of Macau (AIM), in collaboration with MGM, hosted the SME Product Selection Event and Introductory Session for the “2025 Hong Kong city’super Macau Festival – Flavorsome Journeys in Macau” today at MinM Plaza. The procurement team from city’super, the premium supermarket chain in Hong Kong, made a special trip to Macau to engage in in-depth exchanges with over 20 local SMEs. The goal was to handpick outstanding Macau quality products for the upcoming festival, which will be held from October 7 to 31 across four city’super stores in Hong Kong.

Professional Selection Sparks New Business Opportunities

Distinguished guests included Fong Son Kin, Chairman of AIM; Lam Hoi Kin, Head of External Trade and Economic Cooperation Department of Economic and Technological Development Bureau; Marc Chau, Director of city’super Food Business Unit, along with his procurement team; and Simon Leong, Assistant Vice President of Purchasing at MGM. Participating Macau brands represented a wide range of categories including food, beverages, cultural and creative products, health and wellness items, as well as products from Portuguese-speaking regions. Each brand representative presented their product highlights to the city’super team and received professional suggestions.

During the session, city’super introduced its brand positioning, product selection strategy, and procurement principles. Wong Yu Fei, third-generation successor of Wong Chi Kei, a heritage noodle brand in Macau with over 70 years of history, shared the brand’s journey as the first Macau brand to enter city’super eight years ago, offering valuable insights into the requirements for supplying premium retail chains.

Empowering Macau Brands to Go Further

Fong Son Kin, Chairman of AIM, stated: “AIM has long been committed to helping Macau enterprises explore new markets. Following the fruitful results of last year’s showcase at city’super in Hong Kong, we are honored to once again receive the support of MGM and city’super in organizing the 2025 edition. We specially invited city’super’s procurement team to Macau to create valuable learning and exchange opportunities for local brands. As a leading high-end supermarket chain, city’super is renowned for its stringent selection standards and professional global sourcing team. Their deep industry insights are instrumental in helping Macau businesses enhance product quality, diversify offerings, and build strong communication bridges for future collaboration.”

Simon Leong, Assistant Vice President of Purchasing at MGM, added: “MGM and AIM are dedicated to supporting Macau brands in expanding their market reach, reinforcing the ‘Made in Macau’ identity and promoting economic diversification. This year, the ‘city’super 2025 Macau Festival – Flavorsome Journeys in Macau’ returns with great anticipation, featuring the new product selection event and introductory session. These additions aim to help more Macau products enter city’super, enabling Hong Kong consumers to better understand the stories, features and quality behind Macau brands, while fostering deeper cooperation between Hong Kong and Macau.”

Last year, the “Flavorsome Journeys in Macau” event was successfully held across five city’super outlets in Hong Kong, featuring ten Macau brands and over 80 products. The event effectively promoted the expansion of Macau brands into the Hong Kong market. This year, the “city’super 2025 Macau Festival” will take place from October 7 to 31 at four city’super locations in Hong Kong, with over 20 Macau brands expected to participate - bringing an even wider selection of high-quality products to Hong Kong consumers.
