MGM Partners with DSAL to Promote “Safety First, Wellness Always”
Nurturing Employee Well-Being and a Culture of Safety at Work
MGM and the Labour Affairs Bureau co-host the annual OHS promotion campaign.

At MGM, the well-being of team members is a cornerstone of our operations and development. The Company continuously enhances its safety systems and infrastructure while organizing a wide array of training and engagement initiatives to reinforce occupational health and safety (OHS) awareness and foster a safe working environment. This year’s annual OHS promotion campaign, co-hosted by MGM and the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) of the Macao SAR Government, was themed “Safety First, Wellness Always”. The campaign featured a dynamic series of knowledge-based and interactive activities, including “OHS Flash Mob”, roadshows, quizzes, stretching games, fitness workouts, and seminars. These initiatives encouraged team members to maintain a positive mindset while remaining vigilant in the workplace.

The campaign concluded with a closing ceremony held in the back-of-house area of MGM COTAI. Chan Un Tong, Director of the DSAL, said: “This year marks the seventh collaboration between the DSAL and MGM on the OHS roadshow. MGM continues to apply innovative technology to enhance the work environment. For example, it has introduced a recycling solution that transforms used playing cards into eco-friendly packaging materials. The solution reduces the risk of repetitive strain injuries and accidents. While this year’s campaign has come to a successful close, our commitment to promoting occupational health and safety is ongoing. We believe that by creating a safer workplace, we can further enhance employees’ sense of well-being.”

Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said: “At MGM, occupational safety has always been our top priority. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Labour Affairs Bureau to further strengthen our safety culture. We also prioritize the mental well-being of our team members. In partnership with the Bureau, we have hosted a series of workshops to equip our employees with stress management skills, while encouraging them to share these insights with their family and friends, helping to build a more harmonious, healthy, and thriving Macau.”

Building a Safer, Healthier Workplace Together

Running from August to October, the “Safety First, Wellness Always” campaign featured 12 “OHS Flash Mob” sessions held across departments, where team members participated in the “Macau Vitality Fitness Workout”. “Safety Snap Quizzes” were also held in the staff canteens, offering a fun and relaxed environment for employees to reinforce their safety knowledge. The quizzes attracted over 1,300 visits. To further support employees’ physical and mental well-being, MGM organized a series of OHS-related seminars, open to both team members and vendors. Among them, the newly launched “Preventing Work Fatigue and Stress” seminar equipped colleagues with effective techniques for stress relief and emotional management.

MGM and the DSAL also co-hosted multiple “Safety First, Wellness Always” roadshows in the back-of-house areas, featuring game booths that attracted over 3,000 visits. A new highlight this year was the participation of Companhia de Electricidade de Macau, whose booth promoted practical electrical safety tips.

To further strengthen workplace safety awareness, MGM participated in “The 11th Regional Safety Quiz” at Macau, where they emerged as the highest-performing integrated tourism and leisure enterprise among 39 participating teams, winning both the 1st and 2nd Runner-up in the Enterprise category. This outstanding achievement reflects MGM’s long-standing investment in OHS education, as well as the team’s deep engagement and knowledge in workplace safety. At the invitation of the DSAL, MGM will join the upcoming work safety knowledge competition in Hengqin at the end of this month, further promoting OHS across the region.

Guests in attendance at the closing ceremony included: Chan Un Tong, Director of the DSAL; Chan Chon U, Deputy Director of the DSAL; Tang Weng Kei, Head of Occupational Safety and Health Department of the DSAL; Chui Ka Shing, Head of the Promotion and Training Division of the DSAL; Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM; and Iwan Dietschi, Senior Vice President of Hospitality of MGM.
