MGM Management Team Embarks on Technology and Cultural Tourism Study Trip in GBA
Gaining Insights from Leading Mainland Industries to Advance Macao’s Cultural Tourism Development
The MGM management team embarked on a technology and cultural tourism study trip in the GBA.

In support of the Macao SAR Government’s “1+4” strategy for appropriate economic diversification, a 29-member management team from MGM, led by Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, embarked on a two-day technology and cultural tourism study trip in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The itinerary featured visits to leading enterprises in technology innovation, cultural tourism, and arts experience centers, as well as historic and cultural landmarks — including Huawei, K11 ECOAST, DJI, Nanshan Museum, and Nantou Ancient Town. The tour aimed to inspire strategic thinking among team members, deepen their understanding of leading industries in the mainland, and reinforce MGM’s commitment to contributing to the diversified growth of Macao’s cultural tourism sector.

“This study tour was designed to provide our management team with firsthand insights into the latest developments in the GBA’s integration of technology and culture,” said Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited. “Through these visits, we gained valuable insights into how technology is reshaping various industries and merging with cultural creativity to foster the ‘experience economy’. These innovations will open up new opportunities for business growth. We are committed to applying these insights, blending innovation with humanity values, to elevate our guest experiences and inject fresh vitality into Macao’s cultural tourism industry.”

Charles Wong, Executive Director of Technology Services, shared: “Through this trip organized by the MGM Academy, we learned how Huawei continues to innovate and strengthen its competitiveness in a rapidly changing market, even preparing for challenges during prosperous times. Working in technology myself, I deeply resonate with Huawei’s forward-thinking approach: we must always embrace innovation, think ahead, and strive for continuous improvement.’

Margaret Chan, Senior Arts & Culture Manager, remarked: “At the ‘Dunhuang Splendors: Culture and Art Exhibition of Mogao Grottoes’ in Nanshan Museum, the guide passionately narrated the millennia-old stories of Dunhuang murals. What impressed me most was how the research team of the exhibition leveraged digital technology to reinterpret traditional culture, allowing ancient Dunhuang art to transcend time and space, presenting it in a modern and approachable way. This tour reaffirmed my belief as a cultural practitioner that cultural preservation is not merely a profession, but a lifelong mission passed down through generation.’

On the first day, the delegation visited Huawei’s R&D Headquarters in Songshan Lake Base, Dongguan, where they toured Huawei University and its library to learn about the company’s corporate culture. They exchanged ideas with company representatives on enhancing customer experience, talent development, and product innovation. The group then traveled to K11 ECOAST in Shenzhen, where they visited a flagship store and an exhibition featuring traditional craftsmanship and paper art respectively, to appreciate the fusion of modern design and lifestyle aesthetics.

The second day focused on the intersection of technology and culture. The team visited DJI’s exhibition hall to learn how the brand redefines visual storytelling and content creation through technology, inspiring ideas for integrating technological innovation into cultural tourism and entertainment experiences. The group then visited Nanshan Museum, home to South China’s largest-ever exhibition about Dunhuang art, “Dunhuang Splendors: Culture and Art Exhibition of Mogao Grottoes”. The tour concluded at Nantou Ancient Town, where participants explored the Nantou 1820 Digital Exhibition Hall and Xin’an County Government Office, experiencing the successful revitalization of a historic city and bringing the learning trip to a meaningful close.
