[February 06, 2026, Macau] MGM has been actively supporting the Macao SAR Government’s direction of expanding international visitor sources and promoting MICE tourism. From February 5 to 8, the Company hosted a corporate MICE familiarization tour for a Thai executive delegation, with joint forces by the Institute for Management Education for Thailand Foundation (IMET). During the trip, the representatives visited MGM’s two properties in Macau, the Company’s convention and entertainment facilities, as well as the cultural landmarks in the city. MGM has also arranged a visit to Hengqin for the delegation, enabling them to gain first-hand insights into the integrated development between Macau and Hengqin.
The familiarization tour is supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), and the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Thailand is one of the top tourist source markets for Macau in Southeast Asia. MGM successfully organized a visit to Macau for Thai business leaders last year. This time, the Company is leading the first Thai delegation on an exchange visit that includes a trip to Hengqin. The IMET is a leadership-focused organization that brings together senior executives to promote professional development and cross-sector exchange. The delegation comprised 31 senior executives from Thailand’s leading global corporations across finance, real estate, technology, retail, and other industries. Through the visit, MGM aims to reinforce Macau’s positioning as “One Center, One Platform and One Base,” while leveraging the Macau–Hengqin integrated development model to promote business exchanges between China and Thailand.
On February 6, MGM hosted a welcome dinner for the delegation at MGM COTAI. Distinguished guests at the dinner were Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of MGTO; Elaine Wong, Executive Director of IPIM; Piyadit Atsavasirisuk, Board Member of IMET and Deputy Secretary General of Thai Chamber of Commerce; Saranee Boonritthongchai, Country Marketing Director of Google Thailand; Zhang Sheng, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Division of Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin; Dr. Iwan Dietschi, Senior Vice President of Hospitality of MGM; Irene Wong, Senior Vice President of Public & Community Relations of MGM; Cindy Lui, Vice President of Resort Sales of MGM.
Addressing the dinner, Dr. Iwan Dietschi, Senior Vice President of Hospitality of MGM, said, “MGM has been proactively expanding our international reach in line with Macau’s development strategy and our government’s initiative. Paying homage to Macau’s integral role in bridging the East and West, MGM also strives to connect the world with our neighboring cities, such as Hengqin, to showcase Macau’s growing potential as a regional platform for business, tourism, and investment—supported by MGM’s exceptional hospitality and resources. I sincerely hope that the visit to Macau and Hengqin has sparked ideas for collaborations to come soon.”
Zhang Ge, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, said during a meeting with the delegation: “Hengqin serves as a ‘testing ground’ for Guangdong–Macao cooperation and a bridge connecting the Mainland with the rest of the world. Leveraging Macau’s links with Portuguese-speaking markets while being fully integrated into the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area with a population of 86 million, Hengqin offers enterprises a unique strategic platform that brings together the best of both worlds. We welcome Thai companies to use Hengqin as a foothold to pursue cooperation in areas such as cross-border finance, digital trade, cultural tourism and wellness.”
Piyadit Atsavasirisuk, Board Member of IMET and Deputy Secretary General of Thai Chamber of Commerce, said, “During the visit, many of us have had the opportunity to experience Macau firsthand, and we have been deeply impressed. We see Macau as playing an increasingly important role in the broader regional ecosystem, connecting the Greater Bay Area with the wider Asian region and beyond. We genuinely believe that Macau holds tremendous opportunities ahead—as a hub for tourism, hospitality, creative industries, and cross-border collaboration—and we look forward to many opportunities for deeper exchange and cooperation in the future.”
During the visit, the delegation toured MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI to experience the Company’s cultural tourism offerings, including its cultural tourism attractions such as the residency show “Macau 2049” and the POLY MGM MUSEUM, as well as its world-class MICE facilities. The itinerary also features visits to local cultural landmarks, including A-Ma Temple and Kun Iam Temple. In addition, MGM has arranged a visit to Hengqin, enabling the delegation to gain insights into the cross-border development and the growing synergies between Macau and Hengqin.
