[April 5, 2016, Macau] For the fourth consecutive year, MGM donated MOP 300,000 to Macau Holy House of Mercy in support of the operation of its annual Welfare Shop. In addition, a team of MGM volunteers and executives participated in the distribution of food hampers and MGM’s tailor-made eco-friendly handcarts to 360 low-income households.
In the morning of April 2, Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, together with other executives led over 50 volunteer team members on a visit to Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop. They were warmly received by Mr. António José de Freitas, President of Board of Trustees of Macau Holy House of Mercy; Mr. Manuel Pires, Member of Macau Holy House of Mercy; Ms. Leong Iok Va, Vice President of Federation of Macau Workers Association; and Ms. Ng Sio Lai, President of the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau. Mr. Grant Bowie represented MGM to present a donation check of MOP 300,000 to Mr. António José de Freitas, in funding the Charity’s daily operation and charity projects.
During the distribution of food hampers, the volunteer team members were divided into 15 groups and each of them specialized in a position to help pack the daily goods include rice, noodles, and canned food into the tailor-made handcarts and distributed to the 360 low-income households referred by the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, Federation of Macau Workers Association and Macau Holy House of Mercy. The handcarts are reusable and easy for the households to bring the food hampers home.
Ms. Grant Bowie said, “During the visit, each of the Golden Lion Team members worked closely together and distributed the food hampers in an efficient way. Through the activity the team was able to forge a stronger bond while spreading love and care to those in need.”
Since the establishment of Welfare Shop in 2013, MGM has been supporting and participating in the food hamper distribution activity. With our yearly efforts, more than 1,200 low-income families have benefited from MGM’s participation. Through the activity, MGM hopes to inspire more team members to share its compassion by serving the community and organizing different types of charitable activities for the underprivileged groups, and to Create a Better Tomorrow Today for Macau.
