MGM Launches Hengqin-Macao Cultural Tourism New Quality Productive Forces Training Program for the Third Consecutive Year
Empowering Team Members’ Capabilities in Support of Macao’s Economic Diversification
MGM organized the “Hengqin-Macao Cultural Tourism New Quality Productive Forces Training Program”, focusing on emerging topics such as smart tourism and the integration of culture and tourism.

[July 10, 2026, Macao] In alignment with the Nation’s strategy of advancing high-quality development and fostering new quality productive forces, as well as the direction outlined in the National 15th Five-Year Plan, MGM has partnered with government authorities in Hengqin and Macao for the third consecutive year to organize the “Hengqin-Macao Cultural Tourism New Quality Productive Forces Training Program”. This year’s program was jointly organized by the Labour Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR (DSAL), the Talent Development and Social Security Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and MGM. Focusing on emerging topics such as smart tourism and the integration of culture and tourism, the program aims to enhance team members’ professionalism and innovation capabilities, nurture high-caliber talent aligned with industry needs, further deepen Hengqin-Macao collaboration, and support Macao’s appropriate economic diversification.

The program combined industry learning with corporate visits, covering the latest trends and applications of smart technologies in the tourism and hospitality sectors, as well as new emerging developments in the Hengqin-Macao cultural tourism industry. Through expert-led sessions, participants gained insights into the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, innovative cultural tourism experiences, and other emerging fields, while deepening their understanding of evolving market dynamics and sustainability trends. In addition to classroom learning, participants visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology and Creativity Museum, Hengqin International Film Studio, and Yowant Technology, as well as other representative technology enterprises and cultural tourism projects. These visits provided first-hand exposure to cutting-edge industry developments, broadened team members’ cross-sector perspectives, and further stimulated innovative thinking.

During the program, MGM invited distinguished guests, including Lei Si Ian, Functional Head of the Vocational Training Department of DSAL; Xiong Chufan, representative of the Talent Development and Social Security Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin; Benjamin Hong, Executive Director of Learning & Talent Development of MGM; and Zhang Libao, President of Zhuhai Association of Staff and Workers Education and Vocational Training, to engage with participants. The four-day program was successfully conducted on July 1, 3, 6, and 8 in Hengqin, attracting a total of 160 MGM team members. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has provided training opportunities to over 720 participants, continuously strengthening the talent pool for Macao’s cultural tourism industry and injecting new momentum into Hengqin-Macao integration.

Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said: “As the cultural tourism industry continues to evolve towards greater digitalization, intelligence, and diversification, the demand for multi-disciplinary talent is growing rapidly. Talent development has always been a cornerstone of MGM’s sustainable growth. Through systematic and forward-looking talent development initiatives, we continuously strengthen our team’s professional expertise and innovative capabilities while enhancing our overall competitiveness. Looking ahead, we will continue to leverage the strengths and synergies of Hengqin and Macao, proactively adapt to evolving market changes, and contribute to not only Macao’s cultural tourism sector but also the deeper integration across the two regions.”
