“MGM Youth Popular Science Series: Macau Space Dream Project” Successfully Concludes
Cultivating Future Innovation Talent and Supporting the Nation’s Aerospace Development
MGM partnered with the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau and the Chinese Society of Astronautics for the third consecutive year to organize the “MGM Youth Popular Science Series: Macau Space Dream Project”.

[July 13, 2026, Macau] MGM has partnered with the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau (MAPST) and the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA) for the third consecutive year to present the “MGM Youth Popular Science Series: Macau Space Dream Project” (the “Project”). On July 11, the Project’s Award Presentation and Graduation Ceremony was held at MGM MACAU to recognize outstanding students and teams. The participation of payload specialists from Hong Kong and Macau in the nation’s manned space missions for the first time underscores the broad prospects for talent from the two regions to contribute to China’s aerospace endeavors. As Macau’s first integrated science education program dedicated to space science and payload technology for young people and built around the three pillars of “Learning, Practice, and Research,” MGM hopes the Project will continue to nurture local innovation and payload technology talent and contribute to the nation’s future aerospace and technological development.

Igniting Macau Youths’ Aerospace Dreams through Immersive Learning and International Competition

As the first science education initiative of the CSA established in Macau, the Project has been widely welcomed since its launch in 2024 and was recognized by the China Association for Science and Technology as an “Outstanding Event of the 2024 National Science Popularization Day”. This year’s project included the “Macau Youth Creative Design Competition of Space Experiment” for Form 2 to 5 students, as well as the “Aerospace Scenario Experience Camp” designed for Primary 5 and 6 students. The camp allowed participants to visit Zhuhai Aerospace Land for an immersive learning experience, where they gained first-hand knowledge of manned spaceflight, deep-space exploration and space stations. Participation in this tour doubled compared with last year, reaching students from more than half of the local schools. Following the tour, students showcased their learning outcomes through AI-generated thematic posters.

Students in the secondary school category received systematic training from national aerospace science and payload technology experts, learning about space experiment design, payload technology applications and aerospace research. Participants then submitted innovative project proposals for competition. To further broaden the horizons of Macau’s youth, winning teams from this category will enjoy an in-depth aerospace study tour in Beijing, including visits to leading aerospace enterprises, aerospace museums and higher education institutions, as well as exchanges with aerospace experts. Additionally, the Gold Award-winning team will represent Macau at the “2026 International Space Science and Scientific Payload Competition” (ISSSP 2026) in Hong Kong, showcasing the scientific innovation capabilities of Macau’s youth on an international stage.

Irene Wong, Senior Vice President of Public & Community Relations of MGM, said, “As Macau’s first comprehensive science education program dedicated to space science and payload technology for young people, the Macau Space Dream Project has engaged more than half of the city’s schools over the past three years, with its influence continuing to grow. Moving forward, MGM will continue collaborating with all sectors of society to provide Macau’s young people with more high-quality and innovative science outreach programs, to nurture local scientific talents, and support Macau’s diversification and the nation’s technological development.”

Chui Sai Peng Jose, President of MAPST, said: “The Macau Space Dream Project is more than a space science education program, it serves as an important platform for promoting the spirit of space exploration, fostering patriotism, and inspiring Macau’s young people to embrace science and innovation. From learning the fundamentals of aerospace science to designing space experiment proposals, students gain hands-on experience and deepen their appreciation of space engineering. The MAPST will further advance youth science education and build high-quality science outreach platforms, supporting Macau’s strategy of integrating education, technology, and talent development.”

Jiang Jun, Vice Secretary-General of CSA, said: “The graduation ceremony marks a new starting point for students pursuing their space dreams. I believe that they will maintain their passion for exploring space, embrace learning and innovation, and work toward realizing their aerospace dreams. Moving forward, the CSA will deepen its collaboration with Macau’s science and technology community, diversify science outreach initiatives, and provide more high-quality aerospace education resources to nurture a new generation of scientifically literate and patriotic young aerospace talent.”

The “Macau Space Dream Project” is advised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) of the Macao SAR Government. Supporting organizations include Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai Association for Science and Technology, Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Macau Catholic Schools Association, Macao Civil Service Educational Association, Macao Science Center and Macau Youth Science Education Association.

Nearly 300 guests, teachers, students and representatives from various sectors attended the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the participants. Officiating guests included: Teng Sio Hong, Deputy Director of DSEDJ; Chui Sai Peng Jose, President of MAPST; Li Lu Ping, Division Head of CSA; Irene Wong, Senior Vice President of Public & Community Relations of MGM; Ho King Lun, Deputy to the National People’s Congress from the Macao SAR; Kou Kam Fai, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference from the Macao SAR; Lam Fat Iam, José Maria Pereira Coutinho, Lee Koi Ian, Chao Ka Chon, Leong Pou U, Kou Ngon Seng and Chan Lai Kei, Members of Macao Legislative Assembly; Cheong Hung Fat,  Deputy Curator of the Macao Science Center; Chan Wai Man, Vice Chairman of Chinese Educators Association of Macau; Ng Teng Chio, Vice Chairman of the Macau Catholic Schools Association; Cheang Wai Seng, Vice Chairman of the Macau Civil Service Educational Association; and Tang Hua Jun, Chairman of the Macau Youth Association for Science Popularization Education.
