[September 22, 2016, Macau] MGM is proud to have its local Golden Lion Team member, Lao Sio Lei from the Stewarding team, to receive the Outstanding Employees with Disabilities Award today among a total of 10 winners, carefully selected by a professional panel of judges. Organized by the Labor Affairs Bureau and Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the 7th Outstanding Employees with Disabilities Award Ceremony was held at MGM MACAU’s Grand Ballroom, with the aim to give recognition to talents with disability who show exemplary performance and attitudes. As a large corporation with significant local presence, MGM remains a consistent supporter of workplace equality and social inclusion, and has avidly encouraged team members to be engaged with the local community through a range of volunteer activities.

The panel of judges for the Outstanding Employees with Disabilities Award was formed by Ms. Tang Veng Si, Division Head of Rehabilitation Service Division of the Social Welfare Bureau; Ms. Wong Sio Kuan, Employment Department Functional Head of the Labor Affairs Bureau; Ms. Kuok Oi Mei, Senior Instructor in Management of Department of Management and Marketing Faculty of Business Administration of University of Macau; Mr. Vong Su Sam, Vice-President of Board Director of Macao Chamber of Commerce, and Ms. Ho Choi Chan, Deputy Director of Community Service of Macao Federation of Trade Unions.

During a sharing session, Lao Sio Lei expressed her gratitude to the Macao SAR Government and MGM for the fair and open opportunity as well as for recognizing her hard work. “At work, I enjoy learning from my colleagues and we always help each other out. During my spare time, I love taking part at volunteer activities and I promise that I will continue to contribute to my job as well as to the community.” Lao Sio Lei possesses a positive working attitude and communicates with her colleagues and supervisors effectively. Her daily duties at MGM MACAU include serving the back-of-the-house area of Square 8 and the property’s employee dining area.

Ms. Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said, “I would like to thank the organizers for their support to MGM and the Golden Lion Team. We always believe that people with disabilities are just as capable as others and can equally and effectively contribute to the Company’s objectives. We hope that our colleagues are further encouraged to be compassionate and engaged with the community.”

MGM is an avid supporter of the Macau community with its vision to Create a Better Tomorrow Today. In supporting the inclusion of the special members of our society, MGM has begun hiring team members with disabilities since 2007. In addition, MGM has won a total of six awards from the Hiring Disabled Staff Recognition Scheme and Outstanding Disabled Staff Recognition Scheme, both organized by the Labor Affairs Bureau and Social and Welfare Bureau in alternating sequence since 2009. MGM will continue to support and enhance the conditions of equal employment in Macau.
