MGM and DSAL Launch ‘Hospitality and Catering Industry Safety Card Training’ Program
Increase OSH Awareness of MGM Team Members

[August 30, 2018, Macau] The safety and health of every team member is of primary importance to MGM. Staying committed to creating a safe and healthy workplace culture for its team members, MGM teamed up with the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) to launch the “Hospitality and Catering Industry Safety Card Training” program at MGM COTAI on August 29, with the objective of increasing awareness and knowledge of MGM team members in all aspects of occupational safety and health (OSH).

The hospitality, catering, gaming and recreation industry offers a diverse range of career opportunities, and those working in the industry might encounter numerous occupational hazards. In order to promote deeper understanding of OSH in the industry, DSAL initiates the “Hospitality and Catering Industry Safety Card Training” program, to improve the frameworks for corporate regulation and develop employees’ self-protection skills. The program covers fundamental concepts and applications, including workplace hazards, precautions and safety measures, as well as the use of personal protective equipment.

A total of 83 MGM team members from various departments successfully passed the assessment of the program, and were issued with the Safety Cards. The program helped participants gain an understanding of both OSH regulations and basics that are relevant to local hospitality and catering industry, such as accident prevention and preparedness, kitchen safety, manual handling operations, electricity, fire and heat prevention, and emergency response.
