Committed to serving the Macau community with its vision to Create a Better Tomorrow Today, MGM has initiated various volunteering and community collaborations with, as well as made charitable donations for local social welfare organizations over the past decade, building profound friendship while bringing joy and care to the community. The Company organized “Celebrating Macau SAR 20th Anniversary, joining hearts and hands for a greater community” event on April 26. Local youth, senior citizens, disabled and disadvantaged members, community partners and MGM volunteers channeled their creativity into an art installation named “Together, we added colors to our community”, which serves as a commitment of MGM to joining hands with social welfare sector to create a better Macau.
The meaningful art installation was unveiled in the event officiated by Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macau SAR Government; Ms. Zhang Jianhua, Senior Assistant Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ms. Vong Yim Mui, Director of Social Welfare Bureau; Mr. Iong Kong Io, President of Administrative Committee of Social Security Fund; Mr. Anthony Leong, Deputy Director of Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau; Mr. Cheong Man Fai, Head of Department of Youth of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson & Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; and Ms. Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM.
“Together, we added colors to our community” is a wood engraved wall art that features iconic historical landmarks of Macau, and is decorated with 150 hand-painted wooden letter boxes created by members of 20 local welfare organizations and MGM volunteers, a tribute to an inclusive and harmonious Macau community. This collaborative artwork celebrates love, passion and teamwork, and captures the city’s unique East-meet-West beauty. It represents a common thread connecting MGM with the community’s past, present and future.
Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson & Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, stated, “All the fruitful achievements of our MGM Volunteer Team could not have been done without every one of our volunteers, and more importantly, our community partners as well as the Macau SAR government. MGM relies on their continuous support to tailor-make services and activities that cater the real needs of our community and the disadvantaged, and to give helping hands and bring joy to the needy.”
During the ceremony, MGM also announced its joint programs with General Union of Neighbors’ Association of Macao (UGAMM), and Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office. In the view of improving quality of life among elderly and disabled community in Macau, MGM has funded the first Macau Assistive Technology Resources Center operated by UGAMM, providing assistance and support to the needy for using suitable auxiliary tools and related daily necessities. As a meaningful way for MGM to share with its team members the opportunity to give back to the Macau community, MGM funded the SKH Ü CARE Moving Care and Service Shuttle for Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, half of the costs is borne by the cash rebate generated from BNU MGM UnionPay Triple Currency Credit Card exclusive for MGM team members. The SKH Ü CARE Moving Care and Service Shuttle project is a mobile speech therapy program for students with special education needs, which alleviates the space, time, geographical or family constraints of needy students and ensures they can receive professional language training and assessment.
The ceremony also recognized community service excellence with MGM Volunteer Award Presentation to Ann Fong and Kelly Lei from Casino Operation and Pang Kuok Wai from Security & Safety. The event was concluded with an inclusive performance, games and lucky draw. MGMShare Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/MGMShare/), a social sharing channel that features the helping and caring causes around Leo Sincere, has been launched recently, aiming to promote community spirit in the community.
