In tandem with Macau’s twin objectives of being a World Center of Tourism and Leisure and serving as the tourism education and training base for the Greater Bay Area, MGM hosted the “Hosting World-class State-level Events in Macau - Seminar on State Level Banquet” for 150 team members and invited faculty members from The University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Institute for Tourism Studies and Macau University of Science and Technology.
Mr. Daniel Fung, former Director of Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, and Ms. Li Xue, Deputy Chief of the Personnel Department of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, were the keynote speakers who shared their vast professional knowledge and experience on hosting state-level banquets and international protocol affairs.
This seminar was part of the MGM Talent Development Series to nurture local talent including those from academic communities, covering a wide array of topics such as Chinese and foreign protocol etiquette, state-level banquet standards and knowledge of Chinese cuisine. Overall, this series of seminars ensures that MGM team members are well equipped so as to strengthen the positioning of Macau as a leading destination to host world-class state-level events.
Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “Hosting state-level banquets and receiving foreign heads of state during their visit to Macau do not only highlight the high-quality service and professionalism of a hotel, but it also gives a good first impression of Macau to guests around the world. We hope our team members may fully utilize this precious opportunity and apply everything they gained from it in work. It would definitely strengthen Macau’s protocol ability, and at the same time reinforce the city in becoming the tourism education and training base for the Greater Bay Area.”
Ms. Yvonne Lei, Catering and Events Manager of MGM, expressed her excitement about the seminar, “Mr. Daniel Fung has shared some critical situations which he had encountered in the past, giving us valuable insights into banquet and official event planning. We are also inspired by the creativity of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse’s dishes, dining table and centerpieces; the practicum session led by the invited speaker Li Xue demonstrated world-class state-level banquet standard. It is definitely a precious lesson for our team members.”
