In the recent months, MGM has been honored with an array of regional recognitions in building sustainability at the Green Building Award 2019, the IFMA Asia Pacific Awards of Excellence 2019, as well as the ASHRAE Technology Awards. All of these accolades truly recognize the Company’s outstanding contributions in reducing environmental impact commitment and endeavors in developing Macau into a more sustainable World Center of Tourism and Leisure.
Earlier this month at the Green Building Award 2019, both MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI have been awarded the Merit Award in Existing Buildings Category: Facilities Management and Finalist in New Building Category: Completed Projects – Commercial Building, respectively. Organized by the Professional Green Building Council and the Hong Kong Green Building Council, this biennale award is one of the highest accolades in Hong Kong recognizing the endeavor and commitment of the industry in sustainable built environment.
Being the only Merit Award winner in Macau this year, MGM MACAU was selected for a list of ecological implementations utilized from inside and out. From the very exterior, the curvy structure of the Property was built with the consideration of optimizing air ventilation, by aligning with the wind direction of Macau. Inside the Property, new technologies and engineering enhancements are applied at every corner. Various systems are constantly monitoring the temperature, radiant heat, air quality and other factors to maintain optimal comfort level, so as to ensure efficient use of resources.
On the other hand, MGM COTAI has received the Asia Pacific Innovation Award from International Facility Management Association back in September, which recognizes new projects implemented in the organization or in the Facilities Management industry. The Property was bestowed for implementing an innovative advanced building modelling application to ultimately achieve energy efficiency. Aside from that, MGM COTAI has also been awarded the ASHRAE Technology Award – Honorable Mention Winner in both Region (APAC) and Society (Global) Level in September, for its outstanding achievement in the design and operation of Energy Efficient Buildings.
Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said, “We are exceptionally proud to receive all of these prestigious regional accolades, highlighting our excellence and determination in pursuing environmental sustainability. I am grateful for our team members who is constantly searching for new ways to enhance our operations with great concerns on sustainability, so that we are able to truly fulfill our role as an active corporate citizen of Macau and the globe.”
